Dotbankey A lot of fun.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
johnm-38132 I just started watching some reruns of NYPD Blue on TV. Andy is the highlight of the show. His character is so unglamorous and anti- Hollywood stereotype that his character actually comes across as amusing. Let's face it. He's pretty darn fat, bald and ugly. But what makes his acting so funny are all the sneering looks and rude attitude he gives to the skanks and low lifes he has to confront on a daily basis. He's always brimming with condemnation and disgust. Every facial gesture screams it out loud!!! His attitude becomes so relentless and over the top that it's a hoot to watch. It becomes fun to call dirt bags - dirt bags!!! It's a great innovative show....not sure there are any other crime shows that are similar. If so, I haven't seen them.
oscarisma1-994-431777 NYPD Blue is awesome. Ironically the show got better as the seasons went on but only the first 4 seasons are on DVD. One of the best story lines which aired on TV in 1997-1998 was the relationship between Diane Russel "Kim Delaney" and Bobby Simone "Jimmy Smitts". This relationship got hot in seasons 5 and 6. I have not seen these episodes since 1998 but was so moved that I will never forget the intensity of those episodes. If it ever comes out on DVD, I highly recommend watching seasons 5 and 6. I think that you will find the love affair between Diane and Bobby to be one of the best ever on television. It is similar to that of Rachel and Ross on "Friends" minus the comedy. Jimmy Smitts won the 1995 Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Bobby Simone. Kim Delaney won the Primetime Emmy Award in 1997 for her portrayal of Diane. In 1998, both Jimmy Smitts and Kim Delaney were nominated for the golden globe award. Despite this I am still waiting for seasons 5 and 6 to come out on DVD.
Marcela Kronstein And by that I mean the now almost countless bad TV shows with directors who think shaking the camera at everything is cute.NYPD Blue started that awful trend, and while NYPD Blue was strangely still a hit (but not as big at it would have been had it been well shot!) thanks to its great writing in the first season, its progeny is stinking up the airwaves.Film is an art form and doing that with the camera makes a mockery out of it.A sad legacy for Steven Bochco who should be remembered from the epically well-produced L.A. Law.
ryan79 After reading some of the comments on this board I'm left scratching my head in dismay. How can anyone say that the hate NYPD Blue, it's been in institution in prime time television and I will deeply miss it. Several people stated that the show went down hill since David Caruso left, apparently people are forgetting or perhaps they just did not know. David Caruso left because the producers would not allow him to have 100% control of his character and because the network would not pay him almost double what everyone else was getting paid at the time. Numerous published reports have stated that David Caruso was and probably still is very hard to work with. I for one do not miss him in the least and think the show has done remarkably better in the 10 years or so since he has been on the show. The great thing about NYPD Blue is that it's so diverse in character depth that no one person really steals the spotlight. There are not many shows we can say that about, not many at all.
