Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
john-felix I'm not sure how to rate this -- on the one hand, it has some of the dumbest writing and one of the most obvious "mysteries" I have seen (I knew who the killer was before he was even introduced!) On the other hand, this is almost like a complete study of the formulas for Lifetime Movies -- if it only had a rape and some drug abuse worked in, it would have had everything. The story is that Billie Calhoun, at age 10, was framed for the murder of her single mother and baby sister, and has spent the last 8 years in juvie. She is set to be released early for good behavior, but a cackling, gleefully evil psychiatrist who obviously has some kind of ulterior motive (which is only barely explained later) advises that Billie be kept longer. The prison guards all just *know* Billie is innocent, and they arrange to let her escape so she can discover the truth of what happened. Billie's legal guardian is a local priest (who obviously is played by a man who had auditioned for the handsome-young-cop-role, since the fellow would have had to have been around 13 years old when Billie was 10) and he knows the truth about who killed Billie's mother and sister, but he never mentioned it to her before this time, and when he intends to tell her, he is suddenly murdered. Billie is the one to discover the body and of course she proceeds to touch everything in sight with her bare hands including the murder weapon before she flees, making it seem as if she had been the killer. Soon the cops are hot on her tail, but Billie manages to find a sympathetic handsome-young-cop and he starts up a completely inappropriate romantic relationship with her that is so creepy I started wondering if it should have been counted as a rape. (The girl is completely at his mercy -- she's an escaped convict that he is hiding in his house, and he's a cop. What's she going to do, reject his advances?) Without giving away too much of the ending, Billie and the Cop set out to find the EVIL HEARTLESS MEN who caused all this. Oh, and somehow Billie knows how to drive even though she's spent all her life in juvie.Dumb writing, but if you're like me and don't exactly watch Lifetime Movies because you expect them to be good, then this is definitely one to see!
Avram Jarek Fawcett Yes, a ten year old going to jail for murder is unreal, but that's the only real flaw in this movie. It still carries suspense and intriuge the whole way. None of the actors are bad, and it is executed very well. You've got a shadowy killer (used in slashers often) and some good murder scenes thrown in. The detective that helps the girls adds in a romantic connection that never really gets played out (course, being in jail for a decade, she's new to mating). Lifetime did a good job with this, though I doubt any of their other films are as good as this. Ah well, look for this one one TV (it was one a few months ago).not rated, but very adult themed with mild language and violence
quadrophenia718 Look, Her Hidden Truth was not hideously bad. It was, in essence, a sappy Lifetime movie, but I doubt that it was supposed to be anything more. Let's be honest, Lifetime movies have never been too concerned with long-term psyches, preferring to focus more on the trauma of a certain time period.I watched this movie because a) it had Kellie Martin in it and she played one of my favorite ER characters and b) it had Reed Diamond in it (mmmm! Kellerman, *swoon*). I am not regretting my decision to watch it at all. It was well worth watching the scenes with Reed Diamond in the pool. It's one of those things that one watches as an alternative to a rainstorm, not as something you would expect to be a masterpiece of film making. You want something like that, watch To Kill a Mockingbird.I honestly don't regret seeing it, and would see it again. (one only really gets to see Reed Diamond in re-runs of Homicide) My advice: take it as fun, I highly doubt that it was supposed to be much more.
wishkah7 This movie's plot was totally warped! Kellie Martin plays this girl who recently got out of a woman's (yes, an adult's) prison that she's been in since she was 10. She wanted an early release and it got denied. And she ecsapes to prove her innocence, and gets help from Antoino Sabato Jr: The only reason why I even bothered to watch this celluloid piece of trash! What were Allison Porter's parents thinking when they made her be in this movie only to play a little girl on trial for an arson killing she didn't commit? That's child exploitation!!! You never hear about girls that age go to jail for anything! I guess it's because of that 'Jerry Springer' mentallity that has souped-up plots for Made-for-TV movies such as this to entice people to watch such garbage. I still can't get that scene where we see a 10 year old Billie Calhoun on trial out of my head.Every time she gets closer and close to getting the truth about who burned down her house that killed her Mom and sister, another murder happens, and then another, and another! > In my opinion, this movie didn't even have an ending! It was obvious that poor Billie Calhoun was going to be truamtized for life because of this! If they want to make a Made-For-TV movie about a 10 year old girl, who not have the girl strive to become a piano virtouso, or a woman's league baseball player? Not be accused of a crime and then years later, escape to prove her innocence! One of the worst lines was: "I grew up in a prison. That wasn't easy, either"! What were they thinking????"Her Hidden Truth" is and will be in my opinion one of the "Worst Movies of all Time". It should be in one of those "Bad Movie" books. In the meantime, I'm going to see a better movie: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!" :)
