Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
torstensonjohn The concept of the story is good, however, it could have been SO much better with more twists. I went into this with NO expectations and the start of the film in first 10 minutes was good, grabbed my attention. When it went into the time jump 16 years later it lost all feel of a genuine story. It became a SCREAM take off so to speak with a legend killing kids. I figured out who and what the plot sequence was 30 minutes into the film. No true development for the characters, the kill scenes were boring. Very one dimension and poor sound editing as well. I figured it was worth a 4 out of 10.
Python Hyena My Soul to Take (2010): Dir: Wes Craven / Cast: Max Thieroit, John Magaro, Denzel Whitaker, Zena Grey, Nick Lashaway: They should have called it My Cash to Take for all it is worth. Title regards a plunge into evil without care or any willingness of prevention. We are introduced to a bunch of faceless teenage idiots whose prime importance in this film is to die in horrible graphic methods. Apparently these brats all turn sixteen but it is also the anniversary of the Ripper slayings. According to these nitwits the soul of the Ripper inhabits many victims and they commit grisly acts such as murder or watching a movie this bad. They are killed off one by one but all faithfully believe that the Ripper dwells under a bridge. Wes Craven is a veteran in horror films. He created the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, which is perhaps still his best and most creative work. Here he does his best with laughable writing. Max Thieriot plays the obvious young hero who will experience visions that don't include a way off the set. John Magaro plays his much bullied and extremely wayward best friend. Denzel Whitaker is a joke as a blind kid who just happens to appear at a crime scene at just the right time and he too dies. Zena Grey plays the stereotypical religious freak who warns everyone of their evil behavior before she is found with her throat slashed. Everyone here serves one purpose and that is make dumb ass decisions that result in their ultimate doom. The special effects are about the only element that seems ambitious, otherwise this film is free to take to any roadside dumpster. Score: 3 / 10
J.D. Kraemer This is a pretty great movie. It keeps you guessing the entire time, and Wes always keeps things nicely suspenseful. Characters are well built, and the urban legend aspect is fun, and it does keep you wondering what exactly is going on. The cast is young and cute, and they all do a good job, although there are some seemingly unmovitaved moments that are a little disappointing. The script gets a touch weak at times but nothing that pulls you out of the viewing experience. Consider this a fantastic rainy day/date movie- perfect for snuggling up with someone, but something you can easily walk away from without breaking your heart either. Don't expect an earth shattering film, but expect to have a good time!
callanvass (Credit to IMDb!) A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.I saw this on DVD a couple years ago. Despite all the terrible critical reviews, I was still immensely excited to see it, simply because of Wes Craven's name being attached to the Director chair. Unfortunately for me, this is as bad as everyone says it is. It lacks suspense, I wasn't interested in any of the characters, and I felt a little hurt by Wes Craven to be honest with you. He is so much better than this. They can use 3.D all they want, it can't cover up that this is a terrible movie. Max Thierot has become a favorite of mine, ever since the series Bates Motel commenced. Even he can't save this crud!Final Thoughts: I don't remember much about this movie at all, just that it was god-awful. This may scare kids or young teenagers, but it's complete crap for adults. Stay away!2/10
