Clevercell Very disappointing...
Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
dan_brassington bad plot and very cheesy when the Lamborghini flips up but if you like cars this is for you theirs Lamborghini Ferrari Enos Maserati and more the cars are way better than the fast and furious cars that not crappy pimped up fords Apparently Hollywood is just handing out money to anyone with a camera and the ability to speak. This movie was mind fumblingly bad. The casting was terrible, the acting unspeakable, and the story filled with holes. Script? who needs script? I was surprised that the movie wasn't as verbally vulgar as I thought it would be, however I got enough shots of T&A to last me a lifetime. The movie was like listening to a 19 year old street racer with ADD (who decided to buy a car instead of go to college) tell a story. Being so poorly scripted, I thought the two brothers in the film were lovers at first. The scenes at the racetrack, along with the main female actor in the film kept making me think of Herbie: Fully Loaded. This is the kind of film is what Grind house modeled itself after...only the writers thought they were being serious.
Stradale There are plenty of reviews of the film that will give you a fair feel for the plot and acting. I was only interested in the cars. There are some great cars from 2002-2007, the camera-work on the cars is satisfying inside and on interior action shots while the sound, although occasionally suspicious, sounds pretty similar to the proper car. The cars are stock, with little of the Fast and Furious arcadey remixing. It's not a documentary but if you're a petrolhead, excuse the 5th grader plot and enjoy the motoring porn, it hasn't been this good for a while.
okaugust Is reading other people's reviews of how bad it was. I haven't laughed that hard since the economy went to heck in a hand basket.Like driving past a car wreck, I couldn't look away. I just had to see how bad it could get, and then how much worse it could get...Plot lines you could drive a semi through, kits of cars that people think are expensive and real, street racing that doesn't look remotely fun trying to dodge minivans all over the place, ugh!The only redeeming quality is the crazy millionaire that is played so tongue in cheek you feel him laughing at the movie, not with it.You can make a drinking game out of the movie, taking a shot for every improbable piece of steaming plot device, but you'd be in rehab at the end.
daverichter30 When Redline was first announced, I was excited. I thought, Fast and the Furious with Supercars. Right? Wrong wrong WRONG! I didn't go see it in the theater, and now, having seen it on Starz/Encore, I am really glad I didn't waste the money or time. The acting was horrible (as one review put it, makes FatF look like the Godfather), the direction was mediocre at best, and the casting could have been much better. The only bright spots were Nadia Bjorlin and Eddie Griffin (I love Eddie, and his over-the-top character in this movie was somewhat funny, especially the scene on the racetrack with Nat in the Ford GT). Small thumbs up to the soundtrack as well. It sounded like the soundtrack to any number of Need for Speed games. The real stars of this film, of course, were the cars. It was a thrill, I'll admit, to see some of my dream cars on film (though I cringed to see them destroy the Carrera GT...such a beautiful car). The race scenes were a little over the top, but I can deal with that. It is, after all, a movie, and I believe it's called suspension of disbelief.Bottom line, if this film had had the following things: Plot, decent script, better acting, and more of a focus on character development...well, it might have been a 5 or 6 out of 10. As it is, I gave it a 1 because that's as low as it goes, and really, the cars themselves made it a 1.Only watch this if A)you like horrible movies, or B)you want to see the incredibly awesome and powerful Supercars in this film.
