Plantiana Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Sherparsa yes, it is certainly flawed due to many reasons, technicalities about how Titanic is actually cut in two pieces and so on included certainly ...but based on my presumptions regarding any movie about the doomed Titanic ship, never expected to like this one really! kinda liked it even more than James Cameron's Titanic actually, which is the most famous and best sold one! :-)the ending 'surprise' was also really good and made the entire movie worth watching despite feeling bored somewhere in the middle ...wouldn't be too much to say this movie's an underrated one and a little bit silly it didn't sell well in its own day! now that a rather good copy of it is on YouTube maybe it'll resurface again ...
oragex A good movie from the 80's, worth watching for the nostalgic. Great directing and good acting, make this flick a worth watch 80's movie. Plus, the picture is beautiful and the photography is a fine 80's one.Now of course, this movie sank at the box office because of the childish subject. But the technical aspect aside, this is one surprisingly well directed movie, I would even say some aspects are way above the average for a 80's movie. Surprising. Most special effects are clearly thoroughly detailed and impressive. Strangely, the most 'important' scene of the movie clearly didn't got the same budget, but it only lasts 5 minutes. The 'cold war' story is slim but acceptable, at at James Bond movie level. So a good movie despite the weird subject. And of course, we are not going to start here on the technical aspect of the matter, you have been already warned about it.
Mr-Fusion Were it not for a subtle mention of the decaying ship model in Malta a few years ago, I don't think "Raise the Titanic" would've ever crossed my radar. It's just not a movie that ever comes up in conversation these days. And it's not a bad movie, despite its dismissal ; although it is crippled by bad pacing, primarily when they're down there scoping out the wreckage. And truth be told, I was kinda disappointed to see "based on a book by Clive Cussler" (oy), but Richard Jordan plays Dirk Pitt with less pulp machismo than you'd expect from the role, which suits me just fine. It's a decent cast, with Alec Guinness' bit part as a highlight. If this movie does one thing very well, it's the affectionate treatment of Titanic itself, particularly the opening shots and the image of her (finally) pulling into New York harbor. This could've done without the Russians, but that's a minor complaint.6/10
kc-195-781725 My view of this movie is colored by the fact that I read the book first. It was my second Clive Clussler novel, and I went on to read almost all of them. When I saw the ad for this movie, I was so excited. Then I watched it. What a huge, huge disappointment. Whoever wrote the script should be shot. Sorry, I shouldn't encourage violence like that. The writer of this script should be chained to a chair and forced to watch this movie in a continuous loop for a year.It is a god awful film, in a world of bad movies. The story made no sense, and they completely cut out the most exciting parts of the book. It makes me wonder, did the idiot who wrote this purposely leave these parts out? Did he have a beef with the studio and purposely do this to make the movie tank? I can't believe this movie actually made a little money. I haven't seen it on TV for many, many years. It's so bad that cable movie channels won't even run it at midnight. The highlight of the book was when the hero Dirk Pitt faces down a team of Soviet agents trying to take ownership of the newly raised Titanic, in the middle of a hurricane. For the movie, they reduced this entire conflict down to the Soviet showing up at the dock and trying to claim the ship as property of the USSR, and being told no.I came away believing that Cussler sold out on this movie, took the money and turned his back on it. I know if I could have stood by and watch them mutilate the book like this. For 31 years, anytime some asks what's the worse movie I've ever seen, this is always the first title that pops to mind. I might need to watch it again so I can laugh at how bad it is.
