Redwarmin This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
mirandazeegore Great idea! This was a really finely crafted film - all told primarily in a steel box! I applaud the filmmakers for keeping this captivating from start to finsih
J Smith (Spike_the_Cactus) I tend to avoid anything even remotely associated with Shyamalame, and did the same to this after seeing his writing credit. I'm happy to say I took the plunge on this one.The premise is simple. A random group of people get stuck in a lift. The tag lines give away the supernatural element, as does the title of the film. I can understand why they did that, but it would have worked better being left unknown. It doesn't ruin it though. The mystery of who the devil is works well, and the daft plot is made to work by some great performances. This is a very watchable film with elements of horror and suspense, held together by solid characters.
StarWarsMoviesSuck M Night Shyamalan probably deserves criticism. As far as I'm concerned, he totally ripped off that novel for 'The Village'. His dialogue style makes even house-pets cringe. The director that did that annoying catacombs found footage movie as well was the director. Talk about annoying - it made me want to throw a chair at my TV. Regardless, DEVIL is a decent movie, and here's why: -Acting: You can see Shyamalan's hands all over the production, from the shady mattress salesman to the dramatic lynch-pins of the lead's crisis and final resolution. In this case it works. The actors do a great job at their roles, in what is a very multicultural setting. The 'good guys' are all immediately sympathetic characters, while the characters of intrigue effectively provide conflict. -Score: I rate the intro as the best I've seen in the 2010s. Velazquez made an amazing score that might be the best I've heard of the 2010s. -Story: Apparently M.Night got the idea from an Arthur canon Doyle story. It's simple but very entertaining. -Overall: The movie does things that I like - mainly it has characters that i can enjoy watching, which most movies fail to do now. I guess I'm partial to morality plays involving the devil, but DEVIL delivers.
dallasmeddel **CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS**This movie kept me on the edge of my seat! I was NOT expecting who the killer really was! I was expecting it to be the security guard, since he was a thug. It REALLY surprised me when I realized it wasn't him. I will definitely rewatch this movie! It really surprised me when all of the passengers on the elevator had criminal backgrounds, or did something wrong like a hit and run *hint hint* This movie definitely beats other movies, like Children of the Corn. I usually don't rewatch horror movies since I already know what's going to happen, but this movie will Definitely be rewatched. The only boring parts I can think of is when the mechanic, the one trying to fix the elevator not Tony, goes to the basement. I honestly was expecting the elevator to somehow start working and crash down onto him, but he didn't die like that. When Tony was the one who hit the mother and son, I was completely surprised and predicted that the cop or whoever he was, would turn him in even though it was five years ago.
