An Exercise In Nonsense
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

For anyone who is a fan of Gillian Flynn's other work, this series comes the closest to faithfully adhering to the "feel" of her work. It's dark, moody and brooding in a pleasantly flippant way.
At the end of each episode you're asking more questions rather than being offered any answers, but it's an ultimately satisfying confusion. You're drip-fed characters and their slippery ways. I also love the different music for each episode's opening credits, which becomes noteworthy as you learn of Camille's relatively recent penchant for music. The acting by the entire cast is phenomenal, but this is Amy Adams outdoing herself. I've only been a fan of hers since Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, but she's incredible. An aside: it's hard to watch this show without a whiskey at hand. It makes me want to drink, every episode.

Although it's a story that holds your attention, you have to have a lot of patience to wait in each episode for nothing happens.

This is just flat out bad. Endless, mostly senseless flashbacks and a confused and disjointed plot struggling to find some direction. One could probably just watch the first and last episodes and see all you need. It's just not enjoyable watching someone who is constantly drinking to extreme in nearly every scene. This show is a "dull object".

I really want to love this show. Perhaps that's why I'm still watching after such a disappointing episode 5. I have listened to true crime podcasts more riveting than this. And I probably should do that instead of setting aside an hour in my week to watch this. This show is sadly underwhelming. I can't believe the positive 9-10/10 reviews. People jumped the gun after the first episode, but the popularity ticker doesn't lie and this show is losing viewers. I find my mind floating to other things and activities while watching each dull episode. And each time I snap back, I realize I haven't missed that much. If I wanted an anthropological look at the rural white South, I have the New York Times.
Whatever they were trying to do with this show just misses the mark.
