Reviews

Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Humbersi The first must-see film of the year.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
docdcs50 Starts off VERY SLOW! Was wondering if I was going to make it through the first 10 minutes. Kept with it in the hope that it would "turn around", never did. This was one of those movies that have MANY scenes that are so dark that nothing is visible. Guess it saves on set costs. The ending was unsatisfying, to say the least. The best thing I can say about it was that it was short.
jtindahouse Simple movies are often the toughest to pull off. The "Keep it simple stupid" mantra doesn't really apply to film making. There have been some tremendous films over the years which could be considered simple in nature, but as a general rule they are few and far between. A recent example of a successful film like this was '127 Hours', and it's no coincidence that 'Curve' is very similar and also a very good movie. It takes a slightly more sinister and thrilling approach, yet a large portion of it remains almost exactly the same. The human will and desire to survive at all cost always makes for fascinating viewing, and this case is no exception. There's more to it than just that aspect of the film though. Teddy Sears plays the villain excellently and reminded me a lot of the killer from Dean Koontz book 'Intensity'. He had a fascinating mysteriousness surrounding him and some of the lines he speaks are clever and well written. Julianne Hough in the lead role is also excellent. With the amount of screen time she was always going to get it was crucial to find someone likable for the role and I think they cast her perfectly. She has no upcoming work scheduled in I notice, but surely it's just a matter of time before she signs on to something. She's a real talent, with the looks to match. I really enjoyed all aspects of the movie. There's something there for everyone and I think most will be surprised how entertained they find themselves.
view_and_review Have you ever watched a movie, particularly a horror movie or thriller, in which you really didn't like the protagonist? This was that type of movie.Mallory's (Juliane Hough) car breaks down on her way to Denver from San Francisco. As fate would have it some hunky guy is hiking and helps her get on the road again. She returns the favor by giving him a ride and lo and behold he's not such a good guy. This rehashed, good-looking-bad-dude-whom-you-trusted plot is so tired and they did nothing to make it likable. And the main character, Mallory, whoa buddy. She was everything wrong with a petite pretty blond. She made one poor decision after another which is why she ended up in a terrible situation. Then couple that with her hoarse voice and she became more annoying. This movie was replete with a flimsy predictable plot, impossibly absurd lead character and bad acting. I mean, even the lines were of the 25 cent gumball variety. This was a movie I just wanted to end... soon. It could end with Mallory living it could end with her dying and I wouldn't care one way or the other... just end.
The MovieDude If I had to compare this to another movie it would be "Open Water" except in a car with a killer instead of a shark and a more satisfying ending. In essence this is more of a slow survival movie with a faster paced "survivor girl vs killer" finish. All of the production, acting, directing, etc are well done. However, as others have mentioned it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but then again, does any movie these days?In the end I liked it. If you are looking for a full blown horror movie, this is not what you are looking for. If you like movies like "Open Water" and "127 Hours" then this is probably worthy of a watch.
