VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
www-jats I think the movie was pretty good for cartoon network budget. Other TV movies are far worse than this one is said to be. The acting is just as good as any Disney or NICK live action show. It was just as good as saved by the bell. Not like anyone was expecting Emmy's or anything for this. I watched it with my kids who were greatly entertained. A 6 year old and an 8 year old. They liked it and watched it twice. So apparently the movie did its job and entertained kids and helped fuel the imagination. Let's face it, if you are 15 or older and still watching cartoons and complaining about them, you need a life or you have found yourself getting older and should try some other entertainment other than cartoons
xamtaro A live action adaptation of the animated Ben 10 series may have sounded really good on paper. Throughout the series, Ben and Gwen were on summer vacation with their grandpa Max. Now in this movie, we get to see how the two characters adjust back to normal school life while juggling Ben's secret hero career; definitely something never before seen in the series. Also the story deals with a plot by a time manipulating alien known as "Eon" who plans to use Ben and the omnitrix to take over the world. In addition to that, Ben and the PLUMBERS must deal with the revelation of a new plot device known as the "Hands of Armageddon" that, when activated, would create untold damage. A combination of new and familiar elements riding the wave of live action adaptations of animated series would no doubt have been a huge hit. Sadly, Ben 10 Race against time comes across as cheap, B grade, kids' holiday special and nothing more.Speaking of "time", this entire movie looks a lot older than it is. At best, it resembles the cheesy Power Rangers movie of 1995 in not just the set designs and special effects but the dialog, acting and overall "feel". Everything just looks insultingly cheap and years behind the standard of special effects even in sci/fi TV series.Though the main characters of Ben and Gwen resemble the physical appearance of their animated counterparts, their child actors just cannot convey the familiar personalities of those beloved characters. The acting, especially for Gwen, is very flat and feels forced. "The Six million Dollar Man" star Lee Majors is horribly miscast as grandpa max and the rest of the adult characters are either one dimensional kid movie stereotypes or comic relief characters. At very least, this movie has heart. The interactions between Ben, Gwen and Max are earnest and believable with the themes of cooperation, responsibility and family loyalty carried over from the original series. The side characters such as Ben's parents, the principle(played by Star Trek Voyager's Robert Picardo) and the rest of the PLUMBERS are entertaining in their antics but some of the humor feels very out of place. With fight choreography that looks worse than "Tattooed Teenage Alien fighters from Beverly Hills", disgraceful Computer generated effects and other flaws or deviations from the original that the more hardcore Ben 10 fans will no doubt take issue with, Ben 10: Race Against time is a sad failure by cartoon network to cash in on the popularity of the Ben 10 franchise. Only simple minded kids could derive any pleasure from watching this poor attempt at a live action sequel to one of the most well loved original animated series in recent years.
Tsavo I PAID MOENY FOR THIS!!!! WHY IN GODS NAME DID I PAY MOENY FOR THIS!!!!!!!Okay first of all it starts off okay but the fight sequences where a bit too power rangers, then the plot comes along, which was poorly written especially at the end, where they seem to abandon all logic, really I've defended some bad movies, but wow, at least the original series seemed to have a bit more in the characters, and the feeling that there was something bigger going on, this one was.... i'm not sure how to explain it, and no this isn't supposed to be an in depth review but mostly just me letting out my shock at how utterly BAD this movie was, and if the rumor i heard about a 5 million dollar budget is true, I'm in shock, its one hour and 7 minutes of wasted time, except for a couple of entertaining character, namely the principal and the oriental plumber, who's name i cannot remember right now, there have been WONDROUS movies made for only a few hundred thousand dollars, the fact someone thinks this movie wasn't bad for one with ONLY 5 mill has sad illusions about film-making, truly, i cannot believe this, even my 12 year old SISTER was disgusted by this movie, the original series was compelling and interesting, this started with about half that, but i was still going to give it a chance, but by the end, when the acting and plot just abandoned most everything that had been set up.... grrrrrrr..... I Just CANT Believe THIS, i have defended many movies that people have claimed where bad, even Alone in the dark (not great, but okay, there have been worse movies, trust me I've seen them)... BUT WOW.... I PAID MONEY for this and TRULY feel betrayed here..... normally i don't mind it.... but wow i LOVE the animated series, this....... i don't know what to call it... ruins that... *sighs* Okay rants done.
SailorVenus_24 I just started watching Ben 10, because I don't usually care to watch cartoons, especially since they seem to be getting less worth the watching anyways. But Ben 10 week started on CartoonNetwork and I couldn't help but get hooked when the cartoon came on. Because of this, I decided to give the movie a try as it was going to be on this week. I watched it last night and I'm really happy that I gave it a chance. It reminds me of the shows I used to watch when I was little and it made me feel like when I used to pretend I was on adventures with my friends. And if a movie can do that to me, it is most certainly worth watching. It brings you back to a time when you wished you could play the hero and wanted more than anything to have those sorts of adventures. But if you watch it, remember that it is a kid's movie, so don't expect a great adventure movie from it, just expect that it will keep you entertained and that it allows you to remember way back when.
