Yes, it is absolutely campy, and of course it is not believable, but maybe that's why I like it so much, even today. This show reminds me of Star Trek,the original series in some ways. It's so over the top that you can forget about any idea of anyone getting hurt. You know before the episode even begins that Michael is going to come through, and good will triumph over evil and the bad guy is going to get it in the end. Just like Trek. But that's what I love about it. If I wanted to see reality, I can find another show, or simply walk out the front door. But this kind of show let's you just take your mind off the hook for a while and pretend that everything always comes out right in the end. If that's what you want, you're in the right place.

m-ozfirat Knight Rider is a classic show and one that made my youth enjoyable and worthy. However with hindsight it is a TV classic but not a great classic which it could of been. I will summarise why it is a notable show and how it was badly executed. First the strengths. The Pontiac Firebird is appealing and catchy, the music is good and notably memorable, the idea is fresh, new and exclusively modern instead of a traditional crime unit investigating we have gadgetry and technology and how this in a specialist manner is effective to fight crime in the mobility of a car and the view of the leading character consolidated in to the required fast action scenario. lastly it was done at the right time in the right decade. Now the gripping negative aspectsThe leading characters are wooden, adolescent and corny which goes hand in hand with the story lines making it more like a cheesy soap based and the exhausting quantity of episodes that dragged the series rather then the quality. For the scenario formula to work efficiently the leads should be limited and the quality of character has to be advanced, formal and deep. The criteria must be genuinely crime based and sophisticated such as trafficking, smuggling, vice, corruption and espionage with hardcore action but not violent for it to be viewable to a wider family audience within 3 seasons and a sensible amount of episodes whilst reaching its maximum potential. Knight Rider 2000 does insures some of these mistakes but the other spin-offs over do and spoil the original idea. in short a notable TV classic but a tragedy not a disappointment

Was K.I.T.T.'s Super Pursuit Mode any less realistic than Lost In Space with its 7-foot-tall talking robot? Theatrical greatness, neither show could claim, but both were entertaining! I was 17 when Knight Rider premiered, but the concept of a car capable of driving itself appealed to me on multiple levels.1 -- Being severely nearsighted and thus knowing that driving was forever beyond my ability barring some massive technological breakthrough.2 -- Familiarity due to many years of self-taught electronics knowledge with technologies known as "Loran C" (a precursor of GPS) and an early versions of "Global Hawk" capable of navigating a 4,000-mile flight within an accuracy of +/- 1/4 inch. Such technology required a human operator only to navigate in the presence of other moving objects, but could navigate a fixed path automatically in the absence of other traffic.The 2008 series which I affectionately call "Knight Rider Jr." among fellow fans is also very entertaining. I'm a weekly viewer of "Knight Rider Jr." at 43 just as I was of the original show when I was 18.

KITT is a highly-advanced machine with a massive number of special equipments and technologies that would ashame any modern car. The car's futuristic interior is still light-years ahead of any modern car. It is 'space age' design at the highest sense (which includes a very unusual steering-wheel), something like a plane's cockpit or a spaceship. KITT can do everything, even things that could make my jaw hit the floor. KITT is one heck of a car, a gorgeous and fine piece of machinery. KITT is a dream under wheels and it was my dream car as a kid (together with Herbie). Who wouldn't want to drive and own that "out-of-this-world" car? In fact, to a degree, KITT exists in real life. There are replicas of KITT, which are Pontiac Firebird Trans Am models that were modified to look exactly like KITT, both outside and inside. These replicas have everything (the functions, buttons and all) KITT has, except the William Daniels's voice and a button for the cars to give spectacular jumps like KITT does.
