Nonureva Really Surprised!
SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
supermaggie An initially courageous and thrilling series with a focus on character roundness - a candidate for the top series and the honorary prize for sincerity, IF it had not lost the courage and chickened out in the middle by giving the two main villains European (German + Italian) names (I realized that quite late, because of the ignorant/wrong pronunciation). (Otherwise the show would have deserved 10 points but:) Thus, the whole good effect of the start was nullified and pulled down the series on the shabby level of other inflammatory series, and additionally pretty schizophrenic, since the series has several leading actors with European, or more accurately German and Italian names/ancestors. So even then, Hollywood destroyed a top series in order to sacrifice it for political propaganda. A similarly brave series, Last Resort, had the courage to go through with it with decency- and got obliterated - yes, both shows were canceled, but there is talk about a delayed third season for Jericho - I would have welcomed this before, but since the creators chickened out back then, Jericho does not earn a third season - and who knows what offenses would be put into a third season if it is made these days under the current leadership and with Hollywood lashing out to Europe madly (with no respect to the reality and honesty), no thanks !!
Beanbag Chair Actually the acting in this is fairly decent, the plot moves forward, but the setup is so idiotic is still gets one star. Music is awful, at times so bad it's like there are 2 separate scores going on at the same time.At times, it's so bad it's good, but mostly not. This thing is like a wetdream for people that dream of using their big 'ol stockpile of guns to shoot people rather than deer. It must be really boring in Kansas, if that's all they can think about there.Everyone good and noble in it is an ex-military type, even if they admit they shot kids i Iraq, it's all good because, well...ex military types are noble.Soon after the nuclear bombs go off, they have a big 'ol country barbecue, with all the fixins. And it goes downhill from there.
Agra Kapindaman The idea was fine but they went astray. Instead of sticking with the main story line they decided to meander into soapy territory far too often. There are some good lessons to be learned from this show, though I doubt that anyone in a position to make decisions to implement contingency plans for small rural towns would have watched this show. For me, the worst thing about this type of show is how stupid the characters can be. They often seem to make snap decisions without proper discussion. And what discourse there is often ends in bitterness. It just makes me want to bang their heads together and tell them to use a bit of logical thinking.I know it's the current way of editing shows but switching so frequently from one story line to another for a couple of minutes then back to the previous story line becomes annoying. One minute your watching a tense life threatening situation unfold then your switched to a scene where someones thinking about what their life could have been.Verdict: Has its moments of greatness but also has many frustrating/annoying moments.
georgiamoxie I came across Jericho when I was looking for TV shows streaming that I hadn't seen before. I was hooked on this show after the first two episodes because there are rarely apocalyptic or war type shows that keep you out of the loop vs. watching the action front and center. It was pretty much how I'd expect it to be should this actually happen because we most likely won't have a clue. Intriguing! I could overlook the character stereotypes and melodrama.Once I hit somewhere around the 13th mark I was losing interest and by the last few episodes of the season I pretty much just had it on as background noise. Mysteries were sort of explained but the focus shifted to straight up melodrama in a Hatfield vs. the McCoys sort of way. I don't care enough anymore to start into the second season. It's a shame really, but the beginning was worth it.
