Reviews

Aiden Melton The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Java_Joe Fawlty Towers was the brainchild of former Monty Python member John Cleese. The Pythons were staying at a small hotel run by a man named Sinclair. He was, as John Cleese put it, "the most wonderfully rude man I have ever seen". The kind of man that loved the hotel business and would have been happy had none of the guests been there. There's stories of him berating Terry Gilliam for how he cut up his meat. And taking Eric Idle's briefcase, which he had mistakenly left behind, and threw it into the pool because there might have been a bomb in there. Needless to say the other Pythons left but John Cleese stayed to watch him and he based his character of Basil Fawlty on him.Basil Fawlty has been described as a lot of things. A wonderful human being is not one of them. He's rude, sarcastic and feels he's somehow better the everybody else around him. A typical episode would have him starting off well, if a little miffed, and have him slowly explode as the episode went on. They only made 12 episodes and John Cleese didn't want to go further than that because he was afraid the character would get too stale. And so we're left with 12 episodes of what is considered to be one of the funniest sitcoms of all time. Rounding out the cast was Cleese's then wife Connie Booth who helped him pen the episodes. By the second season they had divorced which was a shame but they were at least professional about working together. Prunella Scales played his wife Sybil who preferred talking on the phone than dealing with the hotel and finally there was Andrew Sachs as Manuel, the non-English speaking waiter from Barcelona. While some episodes are of course weaker than others, the rest of them more than make up for it. John Cleese's bit when dealing with the German tourists remains one of the funniest scenes in television history. If you have never seen this you owe it to yourself to do. And if you are familiar, then give it a watch again. You know you want to.
Alanjackd As much as I wanted to..I never ever got this.Tried and tried on many occasions but for me it's just not funny.I think the reason people think it's funny is A) It's got John Cleese in it and B) They cleverly stopped after 12 episodes ( thank God) to make it a "classic"!never laughed once at this...and I'm a very versed comedy watcher ..10 well better comedy shows are..Steptoe & Son.Rab C Nesbitt..Dear John..George And Mildred.Nearest And Dearest..Man About the House..Blackadder..OFAH..Open All Hours..It ain't Half Hot Mum..Hi De Hi..You Rang M'Lord..I think that's more than 10 but you get the drift. If this was made into another 12 episodes it would have become mundane and never down as a classic.Cleese was the least funny in Python ..But Python was a rip -off of spike Milligans Q series.Unfunny and childish this...wouldn't bother to be honest!!
macaronieva ... I have been 'scammed' and I really don't understand the why of this except apparently scammers hope you will be a fool and give them your credit card etc. details... it is a different world now comedy wise and only the British seem to produce good comedy but even the Brits although way ahead of American stuff lately have produced "DocMartin".. lovely understated acting from Martin Clunes and the production team. Set in Cornwall it has the beauty of the actual scenery to add to the excellence of this series.
evimchine It is no surprise, that Fawlty Towers resonated with many, considering how popular "cringe comedy" is.This only is the case though, if your mirror neurons, responsible for empathy, are close to /dead/. Otherwise it will be a hellish nightmare that is literally physically painful to watch. On top of that, the whole hotel depicted in it, is a complete chaos of an utterly unbearable level.Which might excite the dull and tedious and stuffy and boring and desperately /desperately/ dull among the population. But if your life already had quite enough "excitement" (read: daymares), then I must strongly suggest you stay far *far* away from this programme.
