Acensbart Excellent but underrated film

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

ian-1211 This has got to be one of my greatest show in my living memory. I remember the T.V show which rocked because it had great music and brilliant characters. Here is the synopsis. While fishing in a port in England, Charlie Chalk, a friendly clown who falls asleep on a hot and lazy summer day out at sea and sails adrift to the mysterious island of Merrywit where he encounters strange creatures and new adventures. They also had Charlie Chalk at the Brewers' Fayre restaurant in the U.K. They were on everything! The slides, drinks, menus and even the dustbins! It was so wonderful! I just take it in! I went back to that restaurant to celebrate my birthday recently. It was great fun but there's was no Charlie! He was gone! It just not same without him. Please CBBC, bring back the show and so restaurants that he's still popular! I miss him! 10/10

karmapolice2000 Charlie Chalk is the greatest children's programme ever made. It may remind some people of such classics as 'Fireman Sam' and indeed the recent DVD version boasts its being 'from the producers of Postman Pat'. However, Chalk is far far better than any of these.In the opening episode we meet Charlie Chalk, whom the series is based around. After taking a rowing trip from the circus and falling asleep he has wound up on an island and we meet him just as he arrives there. We therefore gradually meet the inhabitants of the island (which we find is called 'Merrytwit') as he does. The characters we are introduced to in the opening episode are incredibly well designed and voiced and include Lewis T Duck, Arnold the elephant, Captain Mildred, Trader Jones and Edward who is a lazy monkey. Chalk also encounters two rabbits, yet they seem to play little part in the grand scheme of his stay on Merrytwit.Throughout the series (which consists of 13 episodes), Chalk gets into such capers as getting the sneezes, going treasure hunting, helping to build the first road on Merrytwit and build his new home. However, it is really the inhabitants of the island that the series focuses on and indeed the character of Chalk could be the viewer themselves simply observing the goings on on the island. Throughout the series, new characters including Mary The Hoverfairy, Bert and Litterbug are also met by Chalk and co to much merriment.A key aspect of Charlie Chalk is music and each character throughout the series sings their own song which usually lasts for about thirty seconds. Be it Chalk's own song about the 'C' by the 'C' on his hat or Edwards about not bring asleep but 'just resting his eyes', they are all breathtaking compositions.Another important theme of Charlie Chalk is the comedy which is included. This included slapstick 'Laurel and Hardy' style comedy from Lewis and Arnold as well as the always hilarious sight of Edward dozing off at every opportunity.In the final episode of Charlie Chalk, we discover that Chalk is homesick and so he leaves on his boat, only to fall asleep once again and once again end up on the island of Merrytwit, where, no doubt, his fun adventures will continue for years to come.
