Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Listonixio Fresh and Exciting
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Mmonroe672 If you're looking for big budget Hollywood, this movie's not for you. If you're looking for angst ridden sad ending for the sake of sad ending - ditto. However, if you want something that's fun, endearing, a little off kilter and ultimately redemptive - you've found he right movie. I enjoyed the lack of formula and some strong emotional performances, inserted artfully in this potentially formulaic "on the road" genre. I enjoyed it because when you watched, it really wasn't formulaic at all, and Two Tix was surprisingly poignant delivering the (non- preachy but clear) messages on friendship, and manhood, marriage and family. Kudos to DB, and though we didn't see a whole lot of her or like her a lot in this film, Moira still has it.
nickhoffman Two Tickets To Paradise is a great movie. I encourage everyone to see it. It is as well acted as it was written and directed. This movie is very character driven and is full of heart. DB Sweeney did an excellent job co-writing and directing as well as acting in this film. John C. McGinley was great as well as a great performance by Paul Hipp. Ed Harris even has a great scene in this movie. I watched this movie one December morning on Showtime. I found it completely by chance, but I am so glad my TV was set to Showtime when I turned it on. The movie was in the beginning and I ended up watching the entire thing. I walked away from watching this movie thinking I had found a hidden gem. It has a great mix of comedy and trying to find yourself. There are so many one liners in this film that remind of conversations I had with my own friends; which is probably why the characters feel so real. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too. Each song seems perfect for each scene it's in. This movie has everything to make it a great movie: good writing, great acting, humor, the great American road trip, a coming of age story, great music...it has everything. I encourage everyone to see Two Tickets To Paradise.
doc-niemi I received an autographed copy of TTTP from DB Sweeney while he was visiting my Combat Outpost in Afghanistan a couple weeks ago. The truth and flaws in the characters are what really drive this story. The backdrop could have been a beer run gone awry and it still would have worked beautifully. The Superstar Quarterback with a bit of a gambling issue. The Rock God that has lost his swagger. The Valedictorian Genius stuck in corporate hell. These are real people that we all know. The fact that there is a road trip involved just makes the story more fun. Many of the conversations could have just as easily been set in a bar in Anywhere, USA or in a group therapy session and still made perfect sense. The jokes are funny without being ridiculous and the problems are stressful without being depressingly overbearing. This is a movie for a slightly older crowd than the 13-24 year olds most companies go for. For those of us that remember Dire Straits (when Centerfield was played at every BBQ and Town Picnic in the summer), Bruce Springsteen (back when he was still referred to as "The Boss") or U2 (before Bono went completely off the deep end with his politics and stopped making good music) this movie seems perfectly suited to our kind.
gll3 "Two Tickets to Paradise" is an amazingly funny movie with genuine heart, about three very different men and the friendship that holds them together as they struggle to finally find their place in the world. This movie makes you feel like you're actually hanging out with these guys and shooting the sh--, er, excrement with them, and never know what sort of crazy thing your buddy is going to say to make beer spray from your nostrils. And as always D.B. nails his performance as the blissfully unaware nice-guy semi-slacker who embodies the innocence and soul of the whole story. This movie is a laugh riot (be careful when watching it while drinking, because you will spray beer out your nose -- so aim carefully), but ultimately is a moving story about having faith in your friends and finding faith in yourself. See it!!
