Reviews

Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Prismark10 Kid Cannabis is loosely based on the true tale of Nate Norman (Jonathan Daniel Brown) as a chubby high school dropout and pizza delivery boy who with his best stoner buddy Topher (Kenny Wormald) and gang of potheads started a marijuana smuggling operation from Canada, cock a snook to an arrogant rival and soon build a multi million dollar business which leads to debauchery and partying too hard.Like an even more nerdy version of Blow with ineptness such as the boys getting searched each time they try to get into Canada or getting lost as they try to trek through the woods to get back over the border with their illicit goods.Things get darker as the excesses take their toll, the police home in on them and the loyalties of the gang are tested. This is a low budget film which works better as a dark comedy with notable supporting performances by Ron Perlman and John C McGinley. It is just too convenient that they find an extraordinary weed grower in Canada and a special buyer in the USA.
thechristopherpennington I have to give this movie a B- just because the ending really made me uncomfortable and angry. The film has a nice pace and if you have ever done anything that you knew was dodgy and were nervous about getting caught, the beginning of the film really brought back that same feeling of dread and excitement that I had. The acting is excellent and if anything this movie is too realistic which is why the inevitable ending is pretty excruciating to watch. However the movie is fun and makes you wistful at the end of it because they really could have had it all if they were not so (cussing) greedy. It really is sickening that you can get life in prison for selling pot to me. All of the violence and tax evasion that are associated with weed are totally unnecessary. How many houses and boats and personal property has the government stolen from its citizens? I am sure Budweiser and Dupont and all of the pharm companies are lobbying like crazy as we speak buying our elected officials golf trips to Scotland and letting them borrow their ferraris and vacation homes.
ArdourFilm For a topic such as illegal drug smuggling, the producers dealt with it in a very intricate and almost educational way. It was very well put together. It of course contains the elements you would expect from such a movie. These being partying, drugs (and lots of it) and sex, but when it gets to the more serious topics at hand such as how this kind of behavior and greed can take hold and get the better of people and just how serious the consequences can be, you begin so realize that it's not just a stupid comedy and that is actually has some depth to it. Movies that are based on true events always get my attention and instantly seem to make it worth watching even more. It was nice to see Kenny Wormald play a completely different character. The last time I saw him, he was in the new Footloose. Completely different style but he pulled both off really well. All in all, Kid Cannabis kept me interested and entertained for the most part, the acting was very believable and I recommend you give a watch. It's not for everyone but I'm sure you'll find some aspect of it you like.
cornz_1-1 OK, there are some critical reviews on here where some folks seem to have been a tad too critical. It wont win any awards, it wont light everybody's fires BUT it is at least entertaining, much more so than a lot of other films that pretend to be something they aren't. It has its moments and it has its failings but don't look at it as some sort of realistic portrayal of drug dealing. Sit down with popcorn, a few good mates whom enjoy a smoke and watch it. I was pleasantly surprised and that takes quite a lot in my increasingly cynical life...It does, however, accurately portray how carefully picking your friends (or not carefully picking them) can have sometimes deadly ramifications. Why does a review have to contain 10 ruddy lines in IMDb. Sometimes just saying "Its bloody brilliant" is enough to convey the message that something is good, just as "its utter crap" conveys the exact opposite message.
