Synopsis

Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. ActuallyGlimmer The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
pointhalf Sweeping a feat at the Oscars that only two other films have ever accomplished, The Silence of the Lambs keeps you on the edge of your seat. Literally. Or hiding under a blanket and a bowl of popcorn. The characters instead of making an eye line between each other often talk straight into the camera where you automatically are put in an uneasy seat. The intensity is directed right at you. And the story becomes more immersive. A perfect once in a lifetime combination happened when you get spectacular acting, writing, and directing all in one 2 hour time block...it still gets my heart racing. If you haven't seen this movie, I recommend it to anyone seeking a mental thriller. Perhaps once deemed gory in the early 90's, but by today's standard the film sits pretty tame but again mentally thrilling. There's no "boo" in this film. But you still might be brimming with fear by the third act. Enjoy movie lovers.
ramonola The Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathan Demme is close to a masterpiece. Expertly shot and acted this is another in the line of Hannibal Lectar films and arguably the most well-known. Anthony Hopkins will forever be known for his chilling portrayal of Lectar(he won an Oscar for this) and Jodie Foster once again shows why she is such a fine actress. The pacing is good and Buffalo Bill is a maniac you want caught, even if it means siding with a cannibal. To Demme's credit the film makes Lectar far more interesting than any other character despite the fact that he isn't in the film much. Great watch.
hirojapanese When I was seven, (I still don't know why my mom showed this when we were having a delicious supper and it was beef steak), I was amazed by this movie and especially the acting of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. (She is also cute in the movie though.) The creepy/emotionless tone of Dr. Hannibal is excellent. And how intelligent Clarice looks and is in every scene is magnificent (think she actually is from Harvard.). As I said, this is the first psycho movie to me so my criteria of the same kind of movies is based on this movie; super clever criminal, a detective of the sense of justice and of course creepy crime scenes but not too grotesque. So far I know, this is the most balanced psycho movie; there are mysteries, actions, creeps and meaningful ending. In total, a great movie but not with meals.
KylieCunningham-Kasper Silence of the lambs is an amazing horror classic that truly changed the genre forever.
