Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
Maleeha Vincent It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
grantss It's the 1980s and Matt Franklin is working at a video store. At a big, wild Labor Day party Matt finally gets to make a move on his high school crush. I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be fairly good. Reminiscent of the John Hughes teen movies of the 80s (most of which I really enjoyed). Helps that I was a teen in the 80s, I guess! Very funny at times, yet has its poignant moments. Not as clever or fine-tuned as the John Hughes movies, but works nevertheless. Good performance by Topher Grace, who plays pretty much the same role he has played since That 70s Show. Good support from Anna Faris, Teresa Palmer and Dan Fogler.
snowy-12 This is a lightweight movie but mostly enjoyable, nothing spectacular it's not something to watch to study 80's culture. If I rated it without the background music it's a 6. Topher Grace and the choice of 80's music is what made me keep watching and made this enjoyable.Acting/Casting: 7 - Topher Grace, Chris Pratt barely recognizable he looks a lot better now.Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 7 - 80's look and feel good and as the usual stereotype props are there.Plot/Characters: 6 - boy tries to impress girl with an "clever" ploy. The characters follow a predictable recipe.Entertainment Value: 6 - You may get a laugh or two and will make you smile. Not something you would see at a cinema but solid for television.
Antti Pantti First of all, I have to say that I RARELY like movies that score under 7.0 in IMDb.com. Mostly my favorite movies are in the Top 250 list and include many critically acclaimed classics. This was not clearly one of those. Still, I liked this movie very much. I have seen it like six times. Somehow it works for me.It's not a 80's nostalgia thing, because I was quite young in the 80's. I liked the soundtrack, but only one of my favorite songs in it. (Kickstart My Heart) But somehow I liked the chemistry between the leading couple and every scene where they are together, works. Their characters are both very likable. Of course the scene with grown ups playing Truth or Dare was a bit cheesy, but didn't bother me. Also it may not be very believable, since if a guy would lie so much to a girl as Matt did, she would not most likely ever speak to him again. It kind of was a far stretch. But this movie has a lot of good comedic moments and romantic moments too.Didn't like the parts with Dan Folger that much, with some exceptions. He did OK, but his scenes were a bit off with the general mood of the movie. Anna Faris did much better as Matt's sister.
Saad Khan Take me Home Tonight - TRASH IT (D) No story, no screen play and no comedy, Take me Home tonight is indeed one of the worst Coming of Age movie ever. Topher Grace is one of the annoying actors we've who plays the same idiotic geeky guy, who ends up with the most beautiful girl whether it's his "That 70's Show" or any movie he previously appeared in. Anna Farris was completely wasted in unfunny role. Chris Pratt impressed me, he was the only good thing & Teresa Palmer was the only beautiful thing in the movie. Teresa Palmer was amazing in Aussie thriller "Restraint" it's sad that she never got a good role so far in Hollywood. Dan Fogler was annoying as he was supposed to be a fat annoying wannabe prick. On the whole, it's tedious and tried very hard to make it funny, which didn't work at least for me.
