Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Laxontlyn So again, what happened with the action movies today? Look here, you have it all. It is fast. It is fun. It has a memorable tune to accompany the action. It has remarkable characters, who by no means are deep or Shakespere type guys, they are just cool. It has one-liners. It has a smoking-hot looking girl. A little bit of nudity here and there. Couple of funny lines can be heard. Very colorful villain and his goons. It has that feeling of adventure. It is a quintessential action movie. For that reason it is so predictable and clichéd, but here, is it really a downfall? Can we get more of these, please? I am sick of a bloody messes and greedy mood in todays action movies. Can you take it a little easier, filmmakers? Or is it a thing of the past, meaning that will never get this style back again?
Maziun "Showdown in Little Tokyo" directed by Mark Lester of "Commando" fame is kinda underrated action movie. People don't seem to notice that this is a pastiche of action movies. It's done with tongue in cheek attitude despite quite brutal violence. There are some truly dumb moments , bad acting and lame jokes here , but the overall ironic distance and cheesy style make "SILT" work. It's not a great of god movie , but a B-class movie that delivers what it promises – fun for action movie lovers."SILT" is fast paced and action packed movie. The story is simple and pretty much thin. Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee (son of Bruce) play cops who have to fight against evil Yakuza leader Cary Hiryouki Tagawa and save important witness - sexy singer Tia Carrere Both Lundgren and Tagawa are also connected by a tragedy from the past. There is nothing new in the story , but the whole friendship , love and vengeance themes are mixed together quite nicely. There are no really big , spectacular action sequences here . The movie is mostly memorable for delightful ridiculous moments like Lundgren jumping over a car , Lundgren picking up a car or Lundgren and Lee fighting bad guys in sauna . The best action sequence is probably the sword fight at the end of the movie. If you like a lot of action you will probably be pleased . There is plenty of fights and shootouts here , almost every 5 minutes. "SILT" is rated R and the violence is really nasty here. Some nudity (both male and female) also appears. They just don't make them anymore."SILT" is funny because it makes fun of itself (Lundgren at one point wears ridiculous "Karate Kid" outfit , the dearth scene at the end). It also makes a good use of cheesy one liners ("It crushes me" , "You have the right to die"). The movie has also quite an 80's feel to it (the nice music by David Michael Frank , the torture scene , the factory final).Dolph Lundgren is OK here , even if his acting is sometimes truly laughable ( the scene when he meets Tagawa for the first time is hilarious). Brandon Lee is also OK. Cary Hiryouki Tagawa is hammy , but works as the villain. Tia Carrere is truly an awful actress. It's also a shame that she uses a body double (who is soooo obvious that it's laughable). Watch out for Toshiro Obata ("Teenage mutant ninja turtles") as Tagawa's sidekick. If you appreciate "SILT" for what it is – entertaining , cheesy , sometimes dumb B-class action movie you should have fun. If you take it too seriously you probably won't like it. I give it 4/10.
PeterMitchell-506-564364 One thing, this one's big on action, but little on brains. It joins all those other moronic actioners, that when having karate guys, who actually think they can act is all too apparent. SILT has bad actors and good actors, some nudity, splashes of violence, one kinky sex scene that ends in a beheading. Shouldn't of lagged, honey. That was probably the best scene of the movie. Dolph and Lee, who made this one in the score of films he did, before his demise that came way too early, are partnered, to take done the Yazuka who's brewery is a front. The kingpin, Cary whatever, one of the good actors here, killed Lundgren's parents when he was a kid, hence, his overriding pursuit of what Lee terms "Family Vengeance". So the two go to work, savoring sights, like lying naked women with sushi on them in seedy bars, whatever, and kicking arse every five minutes. Saving one beautiful girl, Tia, whatever from suicide, when kept hostage by Cary and his goons, Lundgren, steps in, where a hot scene in a follows, shortly after. The Yazuka kick back, where eventually that showdown between those two bitter rivals, we've been awaiting, finally arrives out there on the street, where the mob of onlookers, step away at both ends of the street to give em' space. Yeah, a real showdown. Script wise, it's Lazyville, despite some funny lines, mostly spouted by Cary, who sports such dominating presence as well as tattooing. Lundgren had me laughing at the start when he jumps a convertible tearing towards him, then wipes his upper lip with a "Darn it. I'll get you next time expression". When thinking of this shocker, I always wondered if Lee was still alive, how big his star would of shone.
eric262003 .Much in the tradition of buddy cop movies like the "Lethal Weapon" series, "Running Scared" and "Rush Hour", "Showdown in Little Tokyo" stars Swedish born superstar Dolph Lundgren who is paired up with relative newcomer at the time Brandon Lee who was on the verge of a promising career that was cut short from tragedy. Situated in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles, the crime fighting caper features Detective Chris Kenner (Lundgren) and his partner Detective Johnny Murata (Lee) butting heads with a dangerous elite roaming the area called the Yakuza who are dealing "ice". This is a refreshing contrast to Lundgren as he usually handles assignments on his own rather than pair up with someone else to take down baddies. Lee is the centerpiece of the comic foil as he is too Americanized and happens to know very little about his roots. Cary Tagawa plays the villain role as Yoshida, the leader of the Yakuza Iron Claw gang and he makes the most of it by adding substance to his character. Yoshida's evil capabilities go as far beyond one would expect like when he beheaded a woman who tried to rat on him towards his rivalry. Once he takes over the Bonsai Club, Yoshida has an interest towards singer Minako Okeyda (Tia Carrere) and sadistically rapes her. To further inflate his evil resume, Kenner knows Yoshida as a familiar face in his past life. Nothing much really, just that he was responsible for KILLING HIS PARENTS, that's all. The story isn't based on anything real, just continual action and the tone at time can be quite graphic and extremely violent. The humour is in very dark tones, but the chemistry in Lee and Lundgren's partnership is quite intriguing and they encounter their toughest challenges when the Yakuza gang captures the heroic duo and are diabolically beaten by electric shock. This was Brandon Lee's film debut as we see Brandon doing everything to fulfill the legacy of his late father, the legendary Bruce Lee and it's clear he's learned a few thing from his father, especially his superb kicking skills. Sadly like his father he too lived a very short life. While filming "The Crow", he was killed on the set Ludgren seems to be full physique and seems to be quite savvy with a sword especially in his final battle with Yoshida. "Showdown in Little Tokyo" is one of Ludgren's better efforts during a better era when major studios backed him up. It was sadly it was a box office flop due to unfair circumstances.
