Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

chanishaj-26377 A movie made from Stephen King's short story 'Quitters, Inc', that's the idea I had about No Smoking before watching it. Well.. yeah and NO. 'Quitters, Inc' is about a guy, a chain smoker, who gets mixed up with a company that will stop any kind of addiction by any means. The movie has somewhat the same concept. And though it begins as the short story, on the way it begins to turn in to something else. Reality and fantasy gets mixed up. Dreams and reality begins to merge. The movie transforms into David Lynch from Stephen King.From the Story, Direction, Cinematography, Music to the use of surrealism, fantasy, dreams, reality, fear and humor are great. Most importantly, just like a Lynch movie, this can't be summed up to a single meaning. We can accept what's shown just as that, (even that can be explained in few different ways). Or we could find out some hidden stories inside the symbols. No smoking is not just a film, it's an experience that one can feel and understand in any way they want.A mind numbing surrealistic neo-noir psychological thriller.. A Lynchian masterpiece..Have seen more than 600 Hindi movies in nearly every genre there is, Never have seen a Hindi movie like this.10/10

Mayank Tiwari I was in 12th when this movie was released.I didn't see it then, since at that time, cinema for me was all about big stars,songs,...n larger than life plots. Moreover back then I didn't even know who Anurag Kashyap was (now that he is my favourite director after GOW). I saw this movie few days back having learnt that its too abstract and unreal(surreal).This movie is about a man who is obsessed with himself,well off and addicted to smoking. His wife however is unhappy with this habbit of his and wants him to join "Prayogshala", a secretively run rehabilitation center in the ghettos, to kick smoking.It is when he enrolls himself to this program, he finds that his life has become more hazardous now then before. What happens thereafter...its for u to see. This is not an anti-smoking movie giving a social message,in fact some might find it to be pro-smoking. This movie is about freedom to choose,individual liberty and the so called system/society who wants you to conform to its rules and regulations.This movie is a cinematic brilliance because the way it has been made, with metaphors, stunning visuals, subtle humor,great music,top notch acting by "K",John (I cant see anyone playing this character better than him)by the end of the film, u cant help but feel sympathetic to "K"(remember the 'Ashtray' song). This is the kind off movie ever made in Indian Cinema,creating a genre of its own. Having said that,this movie is difficult to understand and mind boggling.Only if u r able to understand the underlying nuances of the movie, u'll come out with different interpretations.Even if you don't get this movie(which is quite likely to happen),it'll stay with with for some time. Anurag Kashyap is truly the face of new age cinema. I agree that he is self-indulgent at times still hats off to him for having made this film. Undoubtedly, this is one of his best work till date and sadly this went unnoticed by many. This movie deserves a watch.

rakeshkr-460-588097 Though quality movies never get the attention and appreciation they deserve(thanks to glamor of crappy star studded movies),this is one of the most under rated movie made in India. It's a fine piece of art which carries the viewer through imagination of the protagonist and at points events are expressed very subtly. Anurag Kashyap is the best director around but unfortunately six years back the audience was too immature to understand or value his work. Warning : For those who like glamorous crap from Hollywood/Bollywood this movie can drive them insane.It's for a limited audience who prefer and enjoy watching something like french cinema and quality works of art..
