AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Maleeha Vincent It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Jonny This is a great film. It is slow and not for everyone, but it's supposed to be that way. I came across this director as the guy who make a short Batman film, but he sure did progress. That 9 minute short was good, but this production is no less than a big box version of anything. $900K made a great impact on the Sci-Fi industry with this thought provoking film and while it was a bit drawn out, it really delivered. The cinematography was great, the location was great and the editing was great. There's nothing not to like about this film unless you are expecting some kind of intergalactic war. Although that is taking place somewhere else, the two "aliens" in this film give you all you need for a fantastic film. In our day now, it is nearly unbelievable that someone can make a film on that budget and produce such a masterpiece.
lorddeseiz Its not a sublime movie. It will never get much praise. Ten years later no one will remember it. Its just as silly as every other scifi movie out there with nothing new or groundbreaking to tell. One thing i did notice in this movie. For what little dialog there is in this movie is done behind masks/helmets. And one thing this movie does brake is the mask trap. Over exaggerated head movements while speaking. In fact this the only movie i know where actors don't bob there head around while speaking, they just deliver their lines like anyone would do with or without mask/helm. Even blockbusters, Mad Max, Star Wars, you name it, all of them guilty of the mask trap. Its the first thing i noticed about this movie and its still the first thing i remember of it. Only a detail, but a huge one for such a little movie and one of the reasons why i praise this movie. From all the scifi movies out there, you can go a lot worse.
lathe-of-heaven Seriously... At first I'm thinking that this is just gonna be a VERY simple 'Oh, we lost the prisoner, lets go get him' type of story. Hunter/Prey, right...? BUT... and it is a BIG BUT like Mariah Carey's... Lo and behold I was gradually and inexorably really sucked into the story and the characters. YES, it was kind of like an extended STAR TREK episode in it's simple setting and story, but darned if the damn thing didn't keep throwing intriguing little curves at me which really kept me going.Granted, they left a LOT of loose ends after building up our curiosity about certain things and motivations and what was 'Really' going on, perhaps... but still, as simple as it was, I was amazed at how the story and developments just kept drawing me in more and more. Obviously, I guess they fully intended for the story to be continued. So, the 'Ending' is REALLY kind of up in the air. But, MAN... lines like when the guy asks Centari 7 why he didn't shoot him and he replies, 'I'll tell you when I see you...' DAMN...! And then they never frigg'n explain it. GRRRR... And when Clea says to Centari 7, 'I know what's going on, but I can't tell you because it may influence what you do...' And they never really explain that either... GEEZ...! But, those were the kinds of things that REALLY grabbed my attention and really made me wonder, 'What the HELL is going on...?!!' and needless to say, fully kept my interest. With this simple of a premise, this could have EASILY turned out to be really stupid and lame (like lots of others) This could have been screwed up SO easily a million different ways, but, somehow they seemed to keep a firm hand on it, and I felt, definitely kept the audience interested. Oh, and BTW... these people saying that this is like 'ENEMY MINE'. FWIW, I liked this film WAY more than that sappy, touchy- feely, over-rated film (as another reviewer also strongly stated here earlier)Sooooo... I don't know if they ever did a sequel or continuation of the story, but I REALLY hope so! Because this one really DID catch me off guard and proved to be far more intriguing and entertaining than I first thought it had any right to be...
Phil Hubbs If you can find this I highly recommend it as its a great low budget sci-fi flick in the same realms as 'Enemy Mine'. The plot is almost the same as 'Enemy Mine' accept the two races don't make friends and the alien race is introduced as the hero element, where as the human, in a neat little twist, is introduced as the creature (you don't realise he's human at first) on the run and becomes the enemy...almost. Depending how you look at it.The thing that impresses about this film is the really nice makeup work on the alien masks and the costume. Prop work isn't that original looking (think 'Predator' armour mixed with a Clone Trooper from 'AotC') but it looks good set against the clear blue skies and yellow/orange rocky desert of the planet its all based on. The musical score is also pretty good, almost too good for a small film like this which was another surprise. Cast wise there are no big names but the acting is perfectly fine with some solid stunt work throughout. You must be a total sci-fi fan to enjoy this on its numerous levels, its not a fast action packed flick and its not filled with cheap looking CGI. Its actually very well made simply because the director has tried to focus the film with good characters and a good story, without the help of lots of money which can corrupt a persons way of thinking. His film was obviously made with lots of love and attention to make it as real as possible and not to rely on CGI. Think of a really good episode of Star Trek, only down side is the ending is left open which could lead to a poor sequel, or we may never know what happens if they don't make further movies.9/10
