PodBill Just what I expected
Console best movie i've ever seen.
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
denis888 What is worse, even this 1990's Prince's flick was a total disaster. No wonder both Madonna and Kim Bassinger turned it down. The so-called sequel to equally tasteless Purple Rain is a vanity project for Prince, empty from the start and nothing but a waste of effort, time, money and patience. Bad to the very marrow, it again shows how fragile and slick Prince was as an actor, how schematic the plot is, how languidly the story unveils. Yest another failure. D'oh, sorry
WilliPatton There is a a part of this movie where George Clinton is performing, and the back up singers are singing "Ruff... Meow." It is the most brilliant and hilarious thing I've ever heard. Unfortunately it's not on the soundtrack. If anyone can give me information on how to find this song, I will do something special for them. This movie is worth seeing solely for the part mentioned above, but also when Prince's strange muse transforms herself to go out with Morris Day. She really cleans up. Plus, Teving Campbell's performance is classic, and Morris Day is always entertaining. I recommend this movie for anyone who has said they love Purple Rain, but hate Rasberry Beret.
JonTMarin Coming off his commercially disappointing album "Lovesexy",Prince was into the whole spiritual thing. He conceived "GraffitiBridge" sometime in 1989, planning to make it a film with him andhis then girlfriend Kim Basinger. They broke up but "Graffiti Bridge"was still going to be made. He took time off to compose the"Batman" soundtrack and in late '89, he began filming "GraffitiBridge". Many that got first dibs on the film forewarned a lot ofpeople about it. "Graffiti Bridge" was released in the fall of 1990with horrible reviews. It also bombed at the box office. People thatdidn't even see the film gave it negative reviews. What people failto understand is that "Graffiti Bridge" is a musical. It is almost likea homage to the old 50's musicals that were filmed on studio lots. This was film on Prince's Paisley Park compound, giving it acheap look. Perhaps Prince took himself a little bit too seriouslywhen advertising it, and threw people off making them think it is aregular movie. "Graffiti Bridge" is like one long music video. Andhonestly, the acting is horrible. The highlight of the film has to bethe music. That is the whole point. It is a musical and nothing else.So don't watch "Graffiti Bridge" expecting a real movie with dramaand great acting. It's a good film but it has it's flaws.Graffiti Bridge- rated R **1/2 out of ****
John Seal Graffiti Bridge is more of Prince's metaphysical bollocks, but the music is better than in Purple Rain, so overall the film is more watchable. Morris Day and Jerome are always a winning screen team (they could have been an African-American Abbott and Costello) and the stunningly beautiful Ingrid Chavez makes her one and only screen appearance as the mystical Aura. Ingrid, you're no worse an actress than half the starlets in Hollywood, what happened to you? Best song is by Mavis Staples, but even Prince turns in some decent stuff and The Time are funky as always.
