Fluentiama Perfect cast and a good story
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
garbageidontneed If I could have done 0, then I might have. But Angie is amazing just as she is. The rest of this is so obvious you know the story with in the first 4 minutes. Everything is so bad and stereo type.Actually, I think it was Denise best performance. So I have to do 10 lines of text so I guess I will write more on this film.Uhh.... Predicable. Angie Harmon, good. Acting in a whole very very flat. Story wanted to be cute and smart, but falls way behind. The opening is so bad that it drags on just to show you how much the lead can fall. Then when the fall happens it is so obvious that you just can't wait for it happen. Just a waste of time. Unless you want to see how not to do a Romantic Comedy and how not to director actors that are not bad actors on their own. So for that education may be worth watching.
i-brix I bought the DVD at the local video store and nearly passed it up: after all, there are never any good movies in the sales section, are there? Well, this one definitely is good. The Story: Ryan is a Wall Street Broker and a real big asshole (as his friend states: "huge would be an understatement"). But after losing his job and his girlfriend leaving him for a richer guy, he has to pay the rent somehow. And the only job he can lay his hands on is writing his girlfriend's "Ask Cindy"-column. And after dropping all his machismo the column even turns out successful.... (But before the end of course he still has to get his revenge for losing his job and also to get a new girlfriend. Wouldn't be a comedy otherwise, would it?) While not the very best of movies, it is very and funny and also has a few memorable quotes. I personally liked the way the camera followed Ryan's butt several times which was quite refreshing to all the times a camera drops down a woman's neckline (even though my husband pointed out the camera did follow Page every time she leaned forward to get up from her chair). For me, the movie was actually rather hurtful: I like to clap my hands or slap my knees at scenes which I really like. And after the movie, my hands hurt!
barrettbrown94111 This was a good little romantic movie. It has the typical messages or themes. Many "moral to the story" moments. But, if well presented, which this movie is, I don't think people get tired of watching such predictable story lines.Movie has it all. There are depictions of greed, lust, bimbos, stupidity, ethics, romance, love. As always, this movie gives people what they want, a happy ending. You conclude that things always work out in the end, guy gets the girl, success in business if you work hard are other messages. All in all a fine movie. After watching it you do not feel like you wasted your time.WARNING: if you watch this with a chick. Be ready for some questions like "honey, what would you do in that situation." Roto
triple8 If one stumbles across this movie they should watch it even if they never heard of it. Trying NOT to give to much away, I'll just mention the main plot which is: PLOT SPOILER:This was a light romantic comedy starring Charlie Sheen as Ryan, a rich, arrogant, playboy stockbroker who loses everything, when an enemy sets him up for a fall. His snobby superficial girlfriend Cindy, played by Denese Richards, Sheen's real life wife, isn't happy Ryan's no longer a big deal and leaves him. That's when things start to happen! Cindy is an advice columnist and not a very good one. When she takes off on Ryan(to Brazil) she also dumps the advice column-which Ryan(broke and needing money badly) takes over under Cindy's name-he also meets Cindy's co workers who include Angie Harmon as Page, Cindy's seemingly tough city girl yet vulnerable boss, and the biggest scene stealer in the movie IRIS!!!! hilariously played by Evelyn Harris(George from Seinfeld's mother?) who won't stop hitting on Ryan. Soon, "Cindy"y's column is the hottest thing in NYC, Ryan is becoming every woman's dream man as he discovers, through writing the column, what a jerk he used to be and he's falling in love with Page. But the trouble is just beginning...I REALLY liked this movie. Granted it's predictable as anything but it works. The chemistry between Sheen and Harmon is part of it. Angie Harmon is a great actress and portrays the tough yet sensitive big city working girl with flair. I've always been a fan of Charlie Sheen's and he doesn't disappoint in this. And the ensemble cast is great and make for constant hilarious one liners and plenty of kooky going ons.If someone has to have heavy deep "mystic river" type movies as a choice all the time they wont like this. If occasionally however one likes a good romantic comedy filed with two great leads with great chemistry, a non stop hilarious supporting cast set against the backdrop of NYC then this one's for you! 8 of 10.
