CommentsXp Best movie ever!
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
agk1 even though film is having a talented star cast of nasseruddin shah and pankaj kapur , it fail to make a mark on audience, they are good actors but doesn't mean that we have to smile and laugh at everything they show on screen .The film was supposed to be a comedy drama road trip but nothing was funny in it throughout the film , lame jokes and cliché formula just to make us believe that we are here to watch a feel good movie, visually film was good only because of the location Goa, apart from that film is a cliché awfully acted movie which is labeled as feel good road trip. Please stay away from this !! according to me film is 3/10 ,makers of the film somewhere have thought of making a little miss sunshine type but failed miserably .. please stay away
Prahlad Agarwal Finding Fanny is a fairy tale by Homi Adajania very unlike his previous projects. A short English themed movie based on the lives of a romantic postman, a middle-aged woman, a lusty painter, a virgin widow and a morose lover. The movie begins with a straight forward introduction of characters, subsequently developing the story step by step. Things start setting in motion when Naseer receives an undelivered letter from his old flame and everybody joins the cause to bring back the romance in Naseer's life. Homi puts in a nice illusion where Naseer dreams of getting himself drowned, somewhat similar to Saif's bathtub shot in Being Cyrus. The plot thickens and becomes interesting when the bunch prepares for a road trip to find Fanny for Naseer. Shot in a picturesque cinematography of Goa, Finding Fanny sets up a beautiful imagery in the minds of audience in the first half. Gradually the movie loses its grip and begins to hastily conclude in a flat manner added by a cursory romance between Deepika and Arjun. One particular distraction was not using sync sound technique in a road trip movie, which makes it very artificial. The poorly thought ending has some excellent performance by each of the cast member. It is extremely difficult to say whether Pankaj Kapur was better than Naseer or Arjun Kapoor. Nevertheless, it's a rare bollywood creation and should be watched without any prejudices.
unsuidojo A great cast cannot save the movie, if there is no storyline. Only saving grace of the movie is good cinematography of Anil Mehta. Some amazing frames. And yes, his camera does find fanny three times each for Deepika, and Dimple. Naseer does find his Fanny, resting on her Fanny on her journey to eternity after treating her fanny well. Both the Kapoors Pankaj and Arjun didn't have a character with a reason in the plot.Between them at least, Arjun gets a chance to rest on his fanny.Director Homi Adajania seems to be obsessed too much with Fanny since he, and the co-writer Kersi Khambatta have planted lots of Easter eggs referring to Fanny.
Sayan Ganguly Okay, Homi Adajania is back ! His first venture 'Being Cyrus' was at par with Hollywood standards; however, his next 'Cocktail' was equally disparaging. So, when I went for Finding Fanny, I did not know what to expect from this movie. And boy, what a movie it was !This movie is at par with directors like Alexander Payne and Alfonso Cuaron. In fact, half way through the movie, one might even forget that he is watching a bollywood movie. The cinematography, the direction, the background scores are breathtakingly beautiful. The ensemble cast of five, carry the movie amazingly well. The story, as in all road movies, is almost the same, five quirky characters set out on a road trip that will change their lives forever. The brilliance of any road movie is in that of the portrayal of the characters involved in it, and that being said, the real challenge of any road movie is in its characterization. That is where this movie stands out ! The performance by veterans like Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor is brilliant. However, in my opinion, it is Pankaj Kapoor who shines above all. He is the Indian equivalent of Paul Giamatti !Finding Fanny would give one the feel of watching a Wes Anderson or a Alexander Payne movie; and people who loves movies like 'Everything is Illuminated', 'Sideways', 'Little Miss Sunshine', or our Indian equivalent 'Road, movie' (The Abhay Deol starrer); would definitely love this one.
