Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
ontheborder-70827 Disclaimer: I like bad horror/thriller movies and watch them in my spare time. Although I may be a harsh critic sometimes, I still respect the creators of the film for taking the time, effort and money to make art. If you could call it that. I base my score of the film by asking myself, "How many times would I rewatch this, if any at all?" A 1 signifies I would never rewatch it. A 2 signifies I might watch it once more, and so forth. Fear Inc. What I Liked: Abigail Breslin Cameo I guess I like the main guy's girlfriend's outfits. I liked the song choice and shot of the main guy walking out of the desert. The ending was probably the best part of the movie. Best part was when Joe died. What I didn't like: Discount Owen Wilson The Bane scene. Ugh. Actually, all of the horrible charades stuff. Way too many jump scares. Vomit scene wasn't funny. When will directors realize no one likes vomit scenes? Tries waaay too hard to be funny. The guy friend actor is horrible. Smirking while saying lines that are supposed to be serious. Main character is super unlikeable. Scratch what I said earlier about the guy friend. All the actors are terrible. Ok, the girlfriend of the main character is kinda decent. I'm 40 minutes into the movie right now, and I want to turn the movie off and take a nap this is so horrible. The jokes are some of the worst jokes I've ever seen in a movie. A one handed standing choke is one of the least effective chokes, dumb to use that in a "fight" scene. The Freddy sweater is so tacky. The camera work is really bad. The main character's acting is so bad. It's so bad it sounds like when actors play bad actors.
Peter Pluymers "I just overheard you guys saying this wasn't scary enough. If you ever wanna be really scared, just call that number. Custom scares just for you. I promise you will not be disappointed."I always had a problem when filmmakers combine horror with comedy. I thought the "Scary Movie" franchise was unspeakably bad. Although the first film was alright. A whole series of parodies on famous horror classics crammed into one movie. There were some fun chuckle-moments. But I gave up after episode two. It became a parody of itself. Never a good sign. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by "Fear Inc.", which eventually followed the same pattern, but the ending and concept was slightly different. Although at a certain point I got tired of that same routine with Joe (Lucas Neff), who reminded me of Jake Gyllenhaal a lot, thinking it's just Fear Inc. playing games with him. (Peter... That was the initial idea, dumb-head)Joe is a typical American good-for-nothing who's living a carefree life thanks to the financial situation of his girlfriend Lindsey (Caitlin Stasey). So he spends his days with unabashedly doing nothing, solo-playing booze games and probably watching horror-movies on a huge flat screen all day. Joe is a living Wikipedia when it comes to horror and he can quote effortlessly from every horror classic and play scenes from it without hesitating. There's really nothing so to speak where he's afraid of. He gives a romanticized cinematic twist to any life-threatening situation. Until the moment a stranger gives him a calling card of "Fear Inc." during a date. It's a company that'll make your worst nightmare to come true. Custom scares so to say. And despite the warning from his best friend Ben (Chris Marquette), who came over to spend the weekend at Joe's place together with his wife Asleigh (Stephanie Drake), that the company isn't particularly reliable and the people running it have a somewhat sinister reputation, Joe can't restrain himself to contact that firm anyway. It's therefore not surprising that from then on some disturbing situation start to occur. Before they know it, the four are attacked by masked invaders and the whole situation gets out of hand. Nevertheless, Joe continues to believe that it is all a hoax, put in motion by Fear Inc. As expected, I didn't exactly think it was a funny movie. But even though this is a low-budget film,it surprised me pleasantly. It was quite thrilling at times and the horror scenes nevertheless looked very professional. Joe wearing a Freddy Kruger outfit was perhaps the funniest part but mostly it was only bland humor. Horror fans will appreciate the references to horror classics and recognize them immediately. Especially the "Saw" parody was extremely successful. All in all this was a highly enjoyable film. Despite the limited resources and the brief period in which it was made, "Fear Inc." could convince. And that because of the concept, the sometimes bloody but splendid realized horror scenes and of course the cast. It's a film where you're never sure how it will eventually end up. "Fear Inc." is not really creepy enough to call it horror. And it's also not funny enough to call it comedy. But with a group of friends and drinking the same amount of alcohol as the four did in this film, it could well be an ideal film to fill a Saturday night. Lots of fun guaranteed. klooney88 So, this guy is a horror film fan, an adrenaline junkie. He really wants a real feel of the true horror feeling. They give it to him and then some! The actors are really good, actually. I thought for a moment that it was bad acting, but really, it was good acting OF bad acting. If that makes any sense. I was hesitant to watch it because it is also categorized as "Comedy" in the genre, but now I get it. Some parts will make you laugh because of the actor Lucas Neff! He is just a great actor, funny or serious!! I read other reviews that say there are twists, after twists, after twists.... so that prepared me for 3 twists. I was not prepared for the 4th! It is worth watching! Very entertaining! Enjoy :)
nickyb-79131 The main crux of the movie is to keep the viewer in suspense as to whether or not events are truly happening or if this is part of the game. To that extent the movie works. There is just enough gore to class this as a horror and is centered around an avid fan of the genre, even having him wearing a Freddie Kruger inspired pullover, but I felt this is first and foremost a basic thriller with whatever humour/humor here being lost on me. Maybe it's hipster humour but didn't find it anywhere funny enough to be considered comedy.Acting was OK for the uncomplicated characters as was the cinematic experience passable for the small stage-sets. All in all I did not find it as awful as some/many other reviews here but as I said earlier i saw this more as a thriller than anything else, with the suspense coming from the thought as to is this part of an act or really happening. The worst to say was that the first 30-40 minutes could have been condensed to ten.
