Synopsis

The sensationalist reporter Michelle Fox presents the TV show Weird World, with phony matters about UFOS and aliens. When she hears about Cat, a young woman that claims that have been abducted with her boyfriend and become pregnant by aliens, she convinces her chief to travel with a team to the remote Welsh island of Scalled to interview Cat. She invites the cameraman Ricky Anderson with his sound technician partner; the nerd expert in "ufology" and "ley lines" Gavin Gorman; the actress Candy Vixen and an obscure gay actor to prepare the matter. They get a van and wait for the low tide to reach the island, and when they find evidences that aliens are really landed in the location, the ambitious Michelle decides to film her way to fame and wealth.

Reviews

Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Freeman This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
exocrine This was one of the worst movies i've ever seen. I appreciate that you are on a low budget but there's no excuse for this kind of garbage. It's got every kind of cliché, from the down home country folk to the sex obsessed aliens. There's sex all over the place and really bad gore. It's about as fun as watching the Parliamentary channel while drinking a flat diet coke and waiting for your desperately needed turn in the bathroom. The characters are all cardboard cutouts. There's the dumb hot girl, the gay guy, the nerd, the country girl, the weird country brother, the serious hot girl. When one dies you really won't care. I would avoid this.
sinful-2 Before going any further I have to admit this is a TRUE B movie. Far from the Asian horror movies I normally like. Then lets again say this is not a horror or sci-fi, it is a splatter comedy. The characters are not realistic. sometimes you want to punch some of them but they make the movie work great anyway.I admit I was about to quit in one of the start scenes about an anal probe. It was really a bit too much for me. But I try to be open minded so I gave it a chance and the movie gave me a lot of laughs following. Maybe 8 is a high rating but I did laugh a lot and the movie did win me over from a hard start. So the recipe for great entertainment is a group of TV people, some welsh hillbillies, and some sadistic aliens. This movie was not meant to be intelligent and it is not. Turn your brain off and enjoy :-) I have watched Peter Jacksons early movies too but did not like them really. This Movie was great entertainment and I can promise I will watch this movie again not PJ's.
accountcrapper It is what it is and I'm glad off it. It's a funny movie with some proper viz style humour. Nothing is serious, it's all tongue in cheek and played for a laugh. The characters while not in-depth portraits are still likable... the stoner sound op, the coke head media ditz, the over top drama queen, the crazy bachelor farmers who live together, only speak Welsh and love (literally) their cattle. Most of the actors are recognizable if you watch a lot of cheap UK satellite TV. A great appearance from Norman Lovett (Holly from Red Dwarf) as a hard pressed peddler of sleazy satellite TV programs. Some of the special FX are pretty good. They could easily have made another movie. It could have been another po-faced bore typical of the sci-fi channel but instead it was something different, original and funny. A good one for a few lads with some beers, a bit of smoke and a pizza or two.
innocuous It's difficult to describe the tone of this movie, which walks somewhere between "Shaun of the Dead" and "An American Werewolf in London". As other reviewers have stated, it is perhaps most similar to Peter Jackson's "Brain Dead"/"Dead/Alive". If you like this genre, you'll probably love the movie. If you don't, you won't get the humor and the whole thing will seem infantile and disgusting.I'm not sure what the budget was for EA, but the director and producers did a pretty good job for what they had to work with. The CGI alien ships are a bit distracting, but the CGI crashes and explosions are pretty hi-quality. The practicals aren't bad either, though you wonder if it's really that easy to pull arms and legs off (TFIC).The homages to other films come about every three minutes, so you do have to decide if you're going to consider them to be rip-offs or loving tips of the hat. I personally think it would make for a great drinking game..."OK, that's from 'Evil Dead' so everyone take a shot." The acting is about par for these types of films, but much better than most modern B-film horror. The Welsh farmers are hilarious.Check it out. My girlfriend would just roll her eyes at it, but I've watched it three times and it remains consistently interesting and hilarious.
