ActuallyGlimmer The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Eric Stevenson This is one of the dumbest movies I've ever had the misfortune to rent at my local library. The plot features these two guys who buy a camp and try to save it from being shut down. It's a sequel to a movie starring Eddie Murphy called "Daddy Day Care" which I heard was bad to begin with and I'm not even going to waste my time with that movie. I remember watching the first ten minutes and thinking that it wasn't that bad. I thought that at least it didn't have farts and poop. Guess what they feature ten minutes in?The characters and especially the villains are especially so annoying. Everything is so amazingly clichéd. There's this one boy who has a crush on a girl. I couldn't care less about what happens to anybody in this scenario. There's no setup, there's no reason at all to be interested in what's going on at all. There's two scenes where a kid throws up. I thought to myself that at least they didn't do it a third time where they actually show the vomit. I was just waiting them to show that and of course they did. I thought that at least there wasn't a kick to the crotch and guess what happened eventually? I'm reminded of a song in "Team America: World Police" where it mentions that Cuba Gooding Jr. was a better actor than Ben Affleck. Now he certainly isn't and this film cements that status. I was even able to predict that a kid would use plants as toilet paper. This is an absolutely horrible film and please don't even consider renting it. 1/2*
johnny-w What is with all of the negative reviews? Sometimes I think the reviewers here on IMDb are just messing around with our heads. Bottom 250? Really, IMDb?! I'm fairly certain that in a few years, when people start seriously looking back on the Greatest Films of the 2000s (I call them the "aughts"), Daddy Day Camp will be at the top of most peoples' lists. This film stars Cuba Gooding, Jr., who never really impressed me in his earlier roles in Boyz n the Hood and Jerry Maguire. I forgot everything I previously knew about Gooding once I saw this movie. In Daddy Day Camp, he is in charge of running a day camp with Paul Rae (Daddy Day Camp) where they find themselves in some knee-slapping crazy situations. The film gets some magic touches from director Fred Savage (The Wizard). I think Savage should have been put in charge of directing the original Daddy Day Care movie; he might have saved it from flopping so horribly! Give this one a shot, folks. It's a family-friendly movie (and a hit with teenagers). Looks like all of the other Negative Nancies reviewing this film woke up on the wrong side of the tent!
mohan_i I had the misfortune of watching two extremely lousy movies on the television in the space of one evening and by the end I was on the verge of tearing my hair out at the sheer absurdity of it all...the first movie was Daddy day camp & the second was Bone eater...at least the latter was a cheap anonymous sci-fi made on a shoe-string budget, with forgettable actors and probably produced with no other intention than to earn some bucks & cater to the large number of fans who love to watch cheap horror movies...Daddy day camp does not have the same luxury for being an annoying, irritating imitation of a movie because 1) it is a sequel to a popular movie 2) it features well known actors and 3) I bet it was not made on a lean budget...I do not understand the propensity of filmmakers for making sequels of successful movies especially when it is obvious that they are half-hearted efforts at best...they persist even when the actors from the original movie refuse to star in the sequel & to top it all, no one producing the sequel invests half the brains or efforts the second time...the result is an atrocious, pretentious, annoying, embarrassing waste...I also fail to understand why filmmakers think that fans of the original movie will watch the crap sequel (just for the heck of it? ) & somehow turn it into another hit...Cuba Gooding Jr fails miserably as the lead actor...at certain points he seems plain embarrassed to be in this pathetic movie...he contorts his face, screams, hams, does everything to try and look funny, but fails...the plot of the movie is stupid beyond belief...too improbable...too many clichés to the point of being utterly predictable...the kids in the movie (even those who are supposed to be good) are irritating & not at all cute...It is basically about this guy (Cuba gooding) running a day care center successfully for 7 years, along with his side kick...he also has a wife & kid and he takes the kid to the same camp (driftwood) he himself visited when he was small...predictably the camp is running into a loss with the competition running a much more profitable camp which is flush with funds...predictably the customers (read kids & their parents) prefer the new camp with its technological marvels as compared to driftwood which relies on old fashioned attractions...also predictably the new camp is run by a super-rich brat who has his sights on driftwood...Our guy purchases the camp, against his better instincts, intending to turn it around and the old geezer who is the part-owner (& who has been running the show for several years) promptly leaves for a vacation leaving behind a consultant who doesn't have a clue...at one point after many mishaps, the consultant makes a remark like "I just joined" in a casual way...WTF...doesn't the guy care for his job? i think it is intended to prove to the viewers that they will make things happen against all odds (& incompetent employees)...boringly predictable too is the attempts by cuba to restore the camp to working order & the mishaps that follow on subsequent visits by kids...for guys who have been running a successful daycare for several years, they are pretty clueless about how to entertain the children as well as how to make profits...also when the competition camp goes on a rampage, more than once, why was the police not informed? maybe so that more histronics could be included ? this movie is brainless, mind numbing crap & only succeeds in infuriating the hell out of well meaning viewers...
hedin_88 i saw the first part in the cinema and the second ant home, not expecting much. I was right, the movie was boring and not much funny at all, the first thing was that Eddie Murphy was missing, he did an great job in the first part and gave a lot to the humorous part of the movie. This second part had a more serious lead actor that does bot seem to be funny enough. The idea was also a bit boring and one-sided. Predictable and lacking reality. The kinds also had no idea about acting and that had its on contribution to the boringness of the movie. What else to say than the characters were not developed enough... one by one, the puzzle shows to be boring, predictable and plain humor. But hey, the movie is made for those younger folks and if they don't give a damn about the acting and the story, still like it. The first one is a great family movie but the second is just too childish....
