Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

DCfan When I was young I used to watch Garfield the movie a lot along side it's sequel. If you are a fan of Garfield then you might enjoy this. My favorite scenes are the beginning, the living room scene with Garfield and Odie and when Garfield and nermal steal a salmon and apple pie from a window. The acting, the props, camera angle and effects were pretty good.Overall 10/10
Python Hyena Garfield: The Movie (2004): Dir: Peter Hewitt / Cast: Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Stephen Tobolowsky, Mark Christopher Lawrence: Voices: Bill Murray: Here is a screenplay that is even lazier than the feline that inspired it. Based on the popular comic strip about a fat lazy cat named Garfield who becomes jealous when his cozy lifestyle is interrupted by the arrival of Odie. When Odie is captured by a scheming celebrity who specializes in lame pet commercials, Garfield feels responsible and must get off his ass and attempt a rescue. Lame plot followed by even lamer developments until a bunch of animals gang up on the villain in a conclusion every bit as stupid as the one in Homeward Bound 2. Garfield is computer generated and voiced by Bill Murray who brings the cat personality. Murray and the computer generated cat are about the best compliment this mediocre crap can achieve. Unfortunately he pretty much carries it when the on screen actors sleepwalk through it. Directed by Peter Hewitt who knows the comic book but fails to come up with a plot. Flat acting by Breckin Meyer as Garfield's owner Jon who isn't nearly as funny as the comic book version. Jennifer Love Hewitt as a veterinarian Jon fancies is a cardboard fantasy. Stephen Tobolowsky as the idiotic villain is an embarrassment. It is a failed attempt to bring the comic to screen that belongs in the litter box. Score: 3 ½ / 10
Gavin Cresswell (gavin-thelordofthefu-48-460297) I was an 11-year old kid at elementary school and I've watched this with some friends I made on a DVD copy from my teacher. I thought, "Hey. This may not be so bad." While the movie did caught my interest, I had pretty low expectations because I think that this is a mediocre adaptation of the comic strip that I've read once. Not terrible, but could've been much better. The story is thin as paper for containing a lot of plot holes. Bill Murray tries with the best material as the title character, but came across as monotonous and the villain played by Stephen Tobolowsky, while entertaining, didn't convince me at all and so is Breckin Meyer as Jon, the owner. The jokes will make kids laugh, but adults won't find them funny, I think. There are some redeeming qualities including Odie the dog. Jennifer Love Hewitt is great as Liz, the love interest for Jon due to her personality and beauty. The locations for the film are excellent too and while not hilarious, there are some funny moments with Garfield especially in the beginning of the film and the air-duct scene. The CGI on Garfield are decent too and the dialog seemed OK-ish.Overall, not great, but could have been better!
anthony-rigoni Bill Murray, what are you doing in this movie? You played one of the Ghostbusters, man! You should have known better! I loved Garfield and the comic strips, but why would you make a live action film featuring a CGI cat and a CGI dog! I got plenty of things that are wrong with this movie.First of all, Odie is a yellow beagle! That dog who's suppose to look like Odie doesn't actually look like him at all! Second, it's trying to rip-off the first Garfield TV Special: Here comes Garfield. The plot nearly resembles the 1980 TV special and tries to rip it off. Third, the actors. Why couldn't you get Frank Welker to voice Garfield or Greg Berger to voice Odie?! What the heck is wrong with you?! Finally, the entire movie should have been in animation! Whoever said that live-action with crappy CGI characters is a great idea was high on dope! This movie is an utter disgrace to the Garfield franchise and it should have never been made in the first place! Where is Jim Davis when you needed him?!!
