Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
waterlily1002 As a youthful fan of the Lost Boys, I actually liked Matthew's movie. It was not a big budget "hollywood" production movie, but the story was very good. I am 33 and still remember what it feels like to be the "new" kid in school and having to "prove" yourself. Kids can be mean, especially teenagers. But as a 33 year old with a 16 year old punk mentality still, I can relate to the story line. Not on a witchcraft level, even though everyone in high school thought we were witches because we wore black and pointy shoes. Just remember what it felt like to be an "outcast" or not a popular kid and I think you will enjoy showing your kids this movie and watching it with your angst ridden "adult" friends. Also, real life stories have a way of paralleling "reality". Where do you think "reality TV" came from? If you are looking for fabulous effects, look some place else. This is just a good story about "some boy's life". Give the story a chance and I think you will enjoy it. Wow, I was just told that I had to put 10 lines of text down. I am not known to be short winded. OK, Matthew Carnahan is an amazing man too.
raven_crow_mabius I've seen this movie more times than I can count! I really enjoyed this movie; it had everything my poor little heart desired. Perfect believable acting, great good looking cast, good plot, drugs, and alcohol!!!J Anyway, Eric Mabius gives a great performance of Shane, the drug loving, satanic worshipping (my fav.), goth guy with a bad life. It's based on the true story of Ricky Kasso, with a few exceptions, this movie didn't have a lot of the facts right, some of the things in this movie were not correct, some of that stuff never even happened, none of these characters are based on the people in the true story except for Shane as R.K. the story is about Kyle, the new kid with troubles. He moves out of his hometown after witnessing the tragic death of his best friend. Kyle tries to start a new life. He goes to his new school and the first day he meets Shane and the other people in the story. After a while Kyle sees the true Shane, a murderer and a true believer of the dark lord. Kyle tries to get out of the `circle', but when none other than Shane murders someone in the circle he starts to really see the dark side of him. Kyle learns that when one goes down the others will follow with their lives. What will Kyle do when his and others lives are on the line? Watch the movie and find out.
asilvahalo Oh, the joys of telecinema. This is, on one level, one of the worst movies I've ever seen, not so much from an acting perspective as from a script/plot perspective. Supposedly based on a true story, it's more like a male version of The Craft, only with a gay Donnie Wahlberg. On another level, though, it's practically a parody of itself and all those anonymous diaries you find in the bookstore about kids who fall into lives of drug abuse and Satanism. The movie is meant to be serious! And frightening! But it's more the sort of movie you'll want to get drunk with your friends and laugh at, particularly if you've got slightly twisted senses of humourA superb good-bad movie. And that Mabius kid's kinda cute.
ratrattyrat I actually quite enjoyed this movie. Great acting by Mabius especially, but also by Subkoff and Bairstow. I think this movie has a lot of potential, the ending was a big letdown, it left many questions unanswered but left room for a sequel, hopefully. Three were quite a few weak parts in the screenplay, but then again some good ones too. Overall it was one of those "good but could use improvement in some areas" type of movies. I'd still rent it, however, for the acting.
