Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Flow So much better than expected, cause lets face it, we have a horror about a group of miners that get trapped under some rocks and when the terror stars no monsters are involved. It is about the horror of the situation, of how people react there, what they do, how they see things, therefore, this one feels quite natural.Beneath is one of the best ones on this subject and even tho people compare it with The Descent or even The Cave, I personally think it has a lot more to do with Haute Tension. If you saw that one and you'll get to watch this one too, you'll make the connection trust me. Is it that predictable? Well, at least for half of movie you'll get a few scratches on your head but indeed eventually it kinda becomes obvious where this one is heading, but it won't ruin it for you. You'll still find yourself there, waiting to see more, how it ends, maybe even hoping for a more decent conclusion.Anyway I gladly recommend this one, I had a lot of fun watching it and I am very excited that I got to put an eye on Beneath. Lovely execution, very good acting and a few good scares.Cheers!

hudsonda4 This movie only got those three stars because of the supporting actors who were actually pretty good. The director went with shaky camera, flashing lights that last too long, in the darkness that lasts too long, and way too long of a build before anything happens. I mean seriously, you put 6 full minutes of flashing lights and darkness into 80 minutes of movie? The main character sucks at acting. And there is nothing scary in this movie. Nothing. Note even a cheap thrill scare.The other reviewers talked about the claustrophobia of the cave....... But that doesn't do anything for those of us who aren't claustrophobic.

Liam Blackburn That is this film's best attribute; the makeup/fx people should be commended. It's really dark the whole way through but that's expected. The Director fails by missing a lot of small details. Like when the guy with the BROKEN FEMUR starts freaking out about the thing that's outside the oxygen cabin....he doesn't ever even grimace from the pain that a normal human would be in. How is that? Is it just poor direction? Poor acting? Or is it a result of the zombie infection....Of course much later on we find this same guy walking around because he turns into a zombie which means it was the infection that apparently made him immune to pain.......but still, how does that even explain anything, it never gets explained...or even touched on.... The movie doesn't go into any depth about why there are even zombies in the mine. Plus, when did the guy even get infected? I was fluctuating between rating this a 1 or a 6...I settled on a 3. This movie could've been good but there was just too many small details missing...and the movie fails to pull you in. It lacks believability. Sure., it's a zombie movie, but even in bad zombie movies they have some sort of explanation for the zombies....

briantumor1023 I had to see this because mines, along with the ocean, are such a fascinating, fertile realm for scary movies -- the pretense of fear is already in the back of most people's mind. I really liked this movie. The cast had excellent chemistry and easily played off each others strengths, and most importantly to me, their characters didn't seem as contrived or cliché as most do nowadays. It felt so fresh considering all the crappy horror movies that rely on special effects, cheap scares and shaky cams. I was very impressed by everyone, but especially Lauren Gores. She's a very attractive, intelligent actress with a good sense of how to appear truly frightened. I was immediately drawn into the suspenseful buildup of the plot by her reactions as someone unfamiliar with the mining experience. They became convincingly intensified by the fears of the more seasoned crew as things began to go very wrong, and the fabric of their sense of the predictability of the situation began to tear at the seams. I don't think intelligent viewers need their interest piqued by the commercially invoked and debatable premise that there was some kind of supernatural force down there. It's scary enough to think about the real beasts of lust and violence that humans can become when under duress, whether it's fear of another race, religion or their own growing insanity due to unknown, invisible forces.
