Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Bea Swanson This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
itgirlx This documentary plays much more like Reality Show that could be called, "How Codependent Are You?" The people observed are genuinely ill in some way or another and they get little to no help or direction from Western medicine are are left to fend for themselves with mostly charlatan characters. Meanwhile, their care-givers wander minefields of eggshells trying to assist ill people who often feel desperate. It ends up with very codependent relationships where no one is getting their needs met. Cameras documenting these awful situations may be exacerbating the codependent dynamics and do not go unnoticed. Communication, therapy and new modalities, alternative and complementary medicine must be part of the equation for this and all patients. Illness doesn't always fit into a nice, little box. This film does nothing to further the conversation; it just makes everyone look a bit crazy.
rhunter377 This movie is well written and builds to a ferocious climax. Everything about the movie enhances its central illusion: that we are looking at found footage that describes the turning of a vampire. I have never seen "found-footage" video used to better effect. The actors were unknown to me and thoroughly effective in their roles. The SFX are used with laudable economy, and the found-footage look only makes them more shocking. Be sure to watch all the way to the end.
Leofwine_draca AFFLICTED is a familiar found footage horror flick but one which holds your attention if you're in a forgiving mood. The narrative follows a couple of young guys around as they go on a world tour only to encounter a mysterious woman who brings darkness into their lives. What follows is extremely predictable and copies CHRONICLE here and there, but generally gets by thanks to a fast pace and lots of special effects done well on the low budget. The highlight are a couple of first-person POV action scenes which are really involving and get the blood flowing, so to speak.
nancy Now i'm a fan of vampires, they're not all great but any vampire flick and i'm there. Afflicted should be a pleasant surprise for fans and non-fans of the vamp!Afflicted is about two best friends back-packing around the world in a one in a lifetime trip. The BFF's Clif Prowse and Derek Lee, (who also wrote and directed the film) have a genuine chemistry which helps the movie work so well. Derek has a serious illness threatening his life so himself and Clif decide to take the plunge and do that bucket list trip. Clif the camera buff plans to document absolutely everything along the way, posting it live online as they go.This found footage style filming soon gets into it after Derek meets a woman on there first stop of Paris to watch a group of friends play in a band. Clif and two band members decide to play a trick on Derek and his new bed buddy but when they get back to the hotel Derek is alone with a bloody mark at the top of his shoulder. It's evident pretty quickly that Derek seems have to gained super human abilities and Clif decides to test his new powerful friend, all of which Derek exceeds beyond normal human ability. The ending is slightly confusing but either way if you're looking for a difference with your vampire movies you have to check Afflicted out!
