GrimPrecise I'll tell you why so serious
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Moacir Fuhr I didn't see the original, but this was awful. There is absolutety nothing "perfect" about this guy's plan. Everybody in this movie is actually quite stupidy: The husband, the lover, the wife, they all act like morons. The plan of the husband is idiotic and he end up killing the guy in a public place. Everybody end up dead in the end, except the adulteress wife. Terrible ending, by the way. I was waiting the entire film thinking: "I wanna see this perfect plan, its gonna by awesome", well, it's not. The script sucks! Don't waste your time watching this.
TonyMontana96 (Originally reviewed: 27/03/2017) The problem here is fairly simple, the picture is lacking in originality and a satisfying ending, which is a shame because there was the right amount of atmospheric tension, it was a mere pity that what was happening on screen was either making little sense or being taken from another older genre picture. Michael Douglas is too old for Paltrow so I don't really believe there pairing for one minute, but they do their best with the material given and Viggo Mortensen play's Paltrow's secret lover, and doesn't do great, but gives a fairly satisfactory performance at the very least. Douglas is adequately threatening and very good here, and Paltrow is not just a pretty face, like her small role in Fincher's Masterpiece 'Seven', she can give a grounded, efficient performance. The story is unfortunately recycled however, and I'm not talking about this being a remake of an old Hitchcock movie, as I have never seen it, I'm talking about its constant stealing from film's like Fatal Attraction, especially the third act and like that film, there was an affair going on between the husband and the lonely woman at work, only they've switched it this time, too the wife being the cheater, and conforming with a man that works at the art gallery, a place Paltrow's character knows very well. There of course isn't graphic sex present like there was in Fatal Attraction but it's similar in in its storytelling and by comparison this picture gets destroyed, because for starter's it defies any logic whatsoever. Assuming is all you can do, because there's plot developments that would make the smartest man in the room howl with laughter, as I personally kept saying how did he do that? Is that possible? And so forth, despite its entertaining performances, the film is clichéd, illogical and uninspired.Though I do think the pace is efficiently fast, and Andrew Davis's direction is pretty good, among other things; like a couple of individual scenes that are competently done and rather entertaining, but just as I started to enjoy myself, clichéd dialogue and predictability closed in upon its third act, and if you think about it, if it weren't for the screenplay and the uninspired story, A perfect Murder might have been a serviceable B Movie thriller, but because of its weak story, and lack of logic, the result is a passable but certainly not memorable thriller with a real howler of an ending that's neither exciting or inventive, it's borderline boring, uninspired and oh so predictable, if you like this kind of film, you may enjoy it, despite flaws in logic, but myself, I felt rather disappointed.
Predrag As with all of Michael Douglas's films, this one is brilliant and amazingly acted. It's a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder," but done very well. The movie suffers not in the least when compared to Hitch's version. If anything, it's a better picture. It obviously had a bigger budget. It's not nearly as mannered and static. The plot has been extensively updated, except for one key scene involving a telephone. Its failings are due to the same elements which bothered Hitch. The play is close to being a potboiler. Still, in the new version, the makers were smart enough to employ film techniques which tend to gloss over the script's weaknesses.Michael Douglas plays a great role as a stern, hard businessman. I have to admit that he is almost sexy in his portrayal. Gwyneth Paltrow seems comfortable in her role as a victimized heiress. Viggo Mortensen makes a good grungy artist. And David Suchet of Inspector Poirot is an excellent actor. We get to see him without the mustache. Actually, this is the type of movie that lends itself to being just a short play since most of the action takes place in just two apartments. The movie is set in New York city, and the director manages to work in a few local attractions such as Penn Station, the Staten Island Ferry, some skylines, and some museums. But the New York scenes are just a bonus, like icing on a cake, and the movie really hangs on the stars and their interactions. It is a good drama with some surprising turns.Overall rating: 8 out of 10.
Minahzur Rahman A perfect murder is pretty much an update version with many changes of the original classic Dial M for Murder. Obviously this film is not quite as successful as the original film, but its still nevertheless a pretty decent and interesting thriller, that has lots of twists and turns. The story is basically about a husband and wife named Steven (Michael Douglas) and Emily Taylor (Gwyneth Paltrow) where despite being married and have high prolific careers, are having a troublesome relationship and various other issues in their lives. Emily (Gwyneth) is having an affair with someone, Steven (Michael) is having serious financial implications. Neither of them are mentally stable, yet have various 'targets' to achieve. The film is pretty good for what it was. Michael Douglas was the outstanding performer of this film and if not for his performance, then I just feel the film would've dropped way down to mediocrity. I'm surprised just how beautiful Gwyneth looked back then, she was a very good choice playing the character Emily. The cast choice was good and the film is a decent thriller worth watching for 1 night or something at least. The conclusion according to me was a let down otherwise it could've got a higher rating.Personally, I found this film pretty enjoyable and gave it a 6 rating and it is certainly worth watching. What makes the film different compared to Dial M for Murder, is that it is much much darker.
