SoftInloveRox Horrible, fascist and poorly acted
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Killa42 Complete SpoilerThe show has the ability to be Arrested Development Meets Apocalypse. Characters who are irredeemable such as a white supremacist becomes a good person. A pregnant nun. A rich grandma with a pet monkey who wants to steal her family's blood. An evil twin who hates germs. Great characters! However, there was a huge flaw with the writing that made the show not worth a second season and I'm glad it ended. This was the same issue with the finale of the Sopranos and How I Met Your Mother. The writers decided their readers were complete morons. It wasn't just the end where the evil twin showed up and replaced the good twin after sitting in a totaled car three miles down bleeding to death then at the last minute he magically appeared and knocked out the good twin. That's certainly a moment when the writers' point their middle fingers at the audience and call them all stupid. It's that they did the same thing with the character Rhonda's plot in every episode. I'd buy Jamie could part water before believing Rhonda would be hunted down by the police and treated the way she was. Her brother Scotty was the head of the crew saving the world and had a seat next to the President of the United States. I'm supposed to believe for a second some marshal has a score to settle by chasing and arresting the Savior of the world's sister while there's a comet headed for the planet? No cop is that dedicated to their job. All B/S. There's no way in any dimension Rhonda would have been chased down and then sentenced to hanging. Not in the 2000s. Then I'm supposed to believe a soldier would shoot Scotty and fight Arnold? Right. Any person with a speck of sense would think this was completely unrealistic. The writers didn't take into consideration their viewers had actual thought processes. One phone call from the President and Rhonda would have been freed from the start. Scotty was part of the team saving the world. No one would tell that person "no" anywhere. He'd have free ice cream for life and whatnot. Like HIMYM and the Sopranos, this show disrespects the audience by assuming they're stupid. The worst part is it's a good show minus this stuff with a lot of redeeming aspects. It was rightfully canceled though.
Dan Greenfield It wasn't that bad. I enjoyed the different characters, and the journey to bring them all together. I loved Diana Rigg's character. She always seems good to me, even when she plays a bad person, and she did it well, with lots of double entendres to make you question her intentions.I believe there is room for a second series. For a start, there is a man-hole cover right next to Jamie in his final scene, which both he and Rajesh could enter to find their own way into the bunker. Second, leaving Ariel in charge and Jamie to die is such a bad ending that the program would forever have a bad rap if it were to truly finish this way.And who says the asteroid has to be as bad as expected? It could easily have broken up into many pieces during its decent, due to Savior's efforts to redirect it. This would mean that the world didn't really end, and there could be a continuing future for everyone, especially for 'Son of God' Jamie, who has yet to truly fulfill his role. A new world anyone?
emmabundy I watched this show on demand, which gives a different experience to watching it once per week. For this particular show, I think binge watching like this was better.I enjoyed the show a lot - the acting was good and the story had a lot of twists and turns which kept you on your toes and stopped it being clichéd or predictable. Even though e are told the ending (sort of) right at the start, even in the last episode you couldn't guess how they would end up there and who exactly would survive. My favourite things about this show were 1. It was just the right length. Some shows have 24 episodes which could fit into 10, resulting in lots of filler. This was not the case here, it never felt slow or unnecessary. 2. The way the relationships and links between the characters grew over the course of the show. 3. The fact that this showed us the effect on people in various parts of the world and different walks of life. Most apocalyptic shows usually focus on America and forget about everyone else! 4 the acting, especially of the main character. It must be difficult to act two completely different characters and make them both convincing. Unfortunately a few small details let the show down, which is why I only gave 8 stars. 1. The "miracle" that happened in the final episode and Frankie hearing voices. These were just a bit too supernatural for me. 2. The relationship between Dave and Paula felt a bit forced, either done for comic effect or as a way of shoehorning Dave into the "family" 3. I find it slightly unbelievable that Ariel could impersonate Jamie so well that even his best friend and his mum were totally convinced. Given that they hadn't actually met until a few weeks ago, although Ariel had been following him and tracking his online presence etc, it just seems unlikely... especially given that it happened twice! Finally, the ending. I've yet to decide whether I loved it or hated it. There are a lot of open questions at the end that I would like answers to, but I have a feeling there won't be a second season, so these questions will remain unanswered!
djdlaay I have been employing IMDb for several years now, conceivably in a similar fashion to other registered/unregistered users. To this date, I had never posted my own review albeit not for lack of opinion. About a month ago(early October-ish)while poking around the web, I stumbled upon this little 'gem'; You, Me and the Apocalypse. Simply put, this is an awesome show that was impeccably cast, written, directed and produced. Y,M and the A has a sublime blend of all that makes a program great. I am always pleasantly surprised to see what direction the show will take and I have to say, I found myself quite emotionally taken with the character development. My friends and family have dubbed me as over-critical when I comment on any particular show, series, movie etc. Thankfully there is still good new content being released and I enjoy productions such as Y,M and the A all the more because they stand out from re-hashed, vanilla and blasé mainstream media....;-)
