Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Desertman84 Charlie's Angels is a remake of the popular TV show back in the 70's of the same title. It stars Annie Ilonzeh,Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor as the new female detectives Kate Prince, a former Miami cop; Eve French, a street racer; and Abby Sampson, former thief respectively together with Ramon Rodriguez as John Bosley, a hacker; and Victor Garber as the voice of Charles "Charlie" Townsend. The show was developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar for ABC.However,it only ran for 8 episodes after ABC decided to cancel it after the fourth episode due to its very low ratings. The show got panned to early and it barely lasted ten episodes. Why? The reason is simple. The show had too much glamour that the producers forgot all about the acting, writing and action scenes. Also,it never realized that it is living off one of the best TV shows back in the 70's that it forgot the reputation and expectations that it has to live on.Back in the 70's,the show was about capitalizing on women being able to do police work. But in the remake,it was basically about looking great on the TV screen and nothing more.Even the funny Bosley was re-written to be a heartthrob to make women scream. While I must admit that the original also did rely on glamour but not too much as it made sure that the episodes will provide joy, delight and entertainment to the viewers without insulting their intelligence. The same cannot be said of the remake.
eddiewareing I gave it a 2 instead of 1 because it has had some money spent on it & the angels look nice, but the acting? the baddies were oh so bad (the underlings had tattoos) the "tough" angel didn't get on with the "new" angel, although everyone & their mother knew they would end up the best of friends by the end. maybe they made it childish as a kind of homage to the original series, if so it backfired on them, in my opinion anyway. things like opening a high tech safe (which works off a fingerprint to which they don't have the finger) in about 10 seconds really gets my goat, I've only watched the first episode, maybe it got better, but unlikely to watch any more, one was enough for me, so check other posts if you want a review of the series
synthgod2 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I disagree with those that think this is a bad show. My first impression was the opposite, that it was a well-made piece of entertainment. Production values are good, it looks great, the action scenes are good, and I thought the stories were good too. I think it is 100 times better than the original. For a piece of pure escapism, the stories do mention the dark side of life a bit, with one angel dying in the first episode, mentioning Latin American death squads, sex trafficking, hooking a girl on drugs against her will, the episode in Cuba. I liked the line "When the Castros buy the collective farm." One negative is that Rachael Taylor looks pale and anorexic, she looks different to me than when she was in Transformers and the movie Bottle Shock.I'm definitely on Team Minka. Mediocrity or worse is the norm in TV, this show and Pan Am I think are way above average.
billmalibu-1 The lady's look nice, I give em that much, but the rest... seriously?Lame props, ridiculous screens on the tab, boring fight scenes, a satellite camera that zooms in from the side, and into the hotel room where the hostage lies bound and gagged? Come on! And by the way: Bosley? Did you put him in so the girlfriends or alleged power-women watching can have something to look at too? Another sad attempt to make a buck with something that did work very well in the past.Putting young good-looking girls/boys on the screen might get people to tune in, but after that some substance and quality might be a good idea.Go get the original, or at least the crappy movies.
