Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
SteinMo What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.
Bluebell Alcock Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Maddyclassicfilms The sequel shows Anne Shirley(Megan Follows) as a young woman who is working at her local school on Prince Edward Island and helping her friend Diana(Schuyler Grant)prepare for her upcoming wedding. Anne is struggling with her feelings for close friend Gilbert Blythe(Jonathan Crombie).Anne meets a wealthy man who is staying at a local summer house called Captain Morgan Harris(Frank Converse)however the two don't really get to know each other until Anne moves to take up teaching at a private Girls School somewhere else in the country and finds that he is the father of one of her students.Anne's friendship with the Captain enables him to change from a slightly reserved and strict man, to one who enjoys life and is a much more open man. This is just as good as Anne of Green Gables and all the cast return. Also featuring Dame Wendy Hiller as Morgan's prickly mother Mrs Harris and Colleen Dewhurst returning as Marilla Cuthbert enchanting and uplifting this is well worth watching.
edwagreen Wonderful sequel to the 1985 original film. In this film, Anne has become a teacher and faces the challenges of classroom life. Gilbert loves her dearly. She wants to be friends with him, but expects more from life. As the film went on, I was thinking that Anne would wind up as another Helen Trent. This very good film really soars when Anne accepts a teaching job at a Womens College. Here we see class distinctions working at their absolute work. The Pringle Family controls the town and are nothing more than egotistical snobs looking to make Anne miserable. For college girls to act like that was unbelievable. I thought I was back in junior high school.Besides Ms. Follows and Jonathan Crombie(as Gilbert), there are excellent performances especially by Ms. Dunsmore as Miss Brooks, who is afraid of life and is apparently stewing in her own misery. She etches an unforgettable character as a tyrant of a principal out to get Anne at any cost. Even when Anne proves herself worthy, Miss Brooks is as keenly jealous as ever. It takes the picture for Anne to win Miss Brooks over. Naturally, Brooks has a breakout scene where she declares her hatred for teaching. Wait a minute. She is out of the classroom as the school principal. The late Dame Wendy Hiller is fabulous here as a tyrannical Mrs. Harris, making life miserable for all around her, especially her long suffering daughter. Anne has that natural talent to win her over. The picture is fabulous because it shows us what basically good people can accomplish.
PeachHamBeach Might be a few spoilers...Although it was based on at least 4 of L.M.Montgomery's novels compiled, ANNE OF AVONLEA aka ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, THE SEQUEL is a very engaging, entertaining story that proved (for me anyway) much more entertaining than having read the 4 books it came from. I'm more of a visual person and some of the "older" novels are hard for me to get into. I'd rather a swift, colorful visual spanning 4 hours than a 4 month attempt to read. Anne is growing up, teaching at the Avonlea school, taking care of Green Gables and Marilla (the beloved Colleen Dewhurst) while mourning that her "bosom friend" Diana is engaged and trying to deny to herself that she loves her "chum" Gilbert Blythe. For the first hour or so, we are treated to the good times of Anne, Diana and Gilbert as Diana prepares to get married. Then Anne's travels take her to New Brunswick, where she is given the position of a English teacher at an all girls school. The first time I watched this, I was disappointed that the story didn't revolve around Anne and Gilbert, but Anne's adventures in the Ladies' College are very entertaining. She makes fast friends with a girl who reminds her of herself as a child and fast enemies with the principal of the school, Miss Katherine with a K. Anne finds herself virtually battling a town full of gossip and feuding and ends up putting together a wonderful Christmas concert to benefit the school. As far as plot goes, this, like the prequel, is the ongoing story of a wonderful young woman who lives in an era of horsedrawn buggies, Gibson-girl hairdoes, and picnics in parks with autumn leaves laying everywhere. There is no solid, formulaic plot, except that this young lady inspires love whereever she goes, even in the most grumpy people, such as Mrs. Harris, Katherine with a K. and the sly, troublesome Pringle girls.Loved it!!!
daystarcs Awesome and Inspiring!! A classic!! The fullness of each character is incredible and each actor played the part. The scenes are rich and full. A movie you can watch over and over. Meagan Fellows in each episode from the first to the last; she made Anne come to life and made you come to love the character
