Reviews

Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Isbel A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
thelastblogontheleft Honestly, zombie movies aren't my absolute favorite. I do have a few that I love, but overall they don't do much for me. Maybe it was my higher standards due to this fact, but this movie just didn't grab me. It's apparently the first post-apocalyptic zombie movie made in Denmark so maybe they just need some more practice. It takes the perspective of showcasing the early days of the zombie virus spreading. In many ways it almost feels like a pilot episode of a zombie TV show, which, to its disadvantage, means it feels like it's gearing you up for some great action down the line but it doesn't really deliver.I was intrigued at first — the concept of a virus spreading quickly always freaks me the hell out, zombie or otherwise — but before you know it you're catapulted into the stereotypical routine: people are quarantined without being given much information, military personnel are patrolling the neighborhood, people are told not to go to the hospital if they're sick. There's a quick transition from "something might be wrong?" to "oh crap something is REALLY WRONG" and yet… still no real intense climax, in my opinion.Per usual, compassion (and maybe some ignorance) is the downfall of the group (letting Sonja's obviously sick and feverish mom stay over?), and things escalate pretty quickly from there.I did like the couple scenes that showed the zombies' fascination with light — once when they got distracted by a streetlight (all staring up at it like they were watching shooting stars) and another when they got intrigued by a fire. I also liked the fact that they were fast. The rabbit stew scene was also an unexpected bit of dark humor. When Sonja wakes up with her mother all rigor mortised on her I got some REAL chills, both from the fact that it was creepy as hell but also surprisingly tender (in the sense that her mom wanted to spoon her before she died). But really, I felt no attachment to any of the characters. You barely even remember the youngest daughter is part of the group aside from her occasionally popping in to ask about her rabbit. The son is rebellious to an annoying degree. And the main couple are awkward as all hell, even during their goodbye kiss (when they know the husband may not come back alive). The moments of sheer desperation — threatening the woman for her box of supplies, Sonja having to re-kill her mother, Dino knowing he needs to kill the daughter — are painful to watch, as they are in any situation like this, since you see a glimpse of what a post-apocalyptic world like this could be like. But, ultimately, I feel like this movie just didn't deliver enough raw emotion and unique situations to stand out.
kosmasp For some this might have been a bit over-hyped. And I get that with great expectations, comes great disappointment. But if you try to keep in mind, that this is a low budget production and that it doesn't re-invent the wheel, than you may be able to have a really good time watching this. Because there is tension, there is drama, there is horror, but there is also comedy to be found here. The characters are very nicely drawn and portrayed by the actors. You still get clichés and you will see things coming. So while this far away from perfect, it can be a nice/decent night in movie to watch. Expect nothing more and you'll be entertained as well
Flow Seriously, how can anyone be into this, calling it better, original, a nice surprise? It has the same moves, gestures, look like any other zombie movie done with a smaller budget.I got bored out of my mind waiting for something to happen, hoping for a twist, a better ending, anything that would remotely make me feel better about spending time in front of What We Become, but nothing came. The movie is as predictable as possible, from head to toes, bringing nothing new whatsoever, and don't tell me it focuses more on the reactions of the people and not so much on zombies, cause I've seen that too, and way better also.I won't recommend this one, tho I usually like the non Hollywood productions, as I find them bold, cruel and raw. But here I kinda knew nothing would develop and all it takes is around 30 min for you to realize it too. So if you wanna drop an eye on this one, do it at your own peril. Cheers!
Carlos García It's awful. Don't be fooled by anyone who says otherwise. Yes, it starts really well, the use of light and the beginning of the movie got my attention, but then it suddenly becomes incredibly stupid, absurd and clichéd.For example, there's this scene where a girl's mom dies, and seconds after she's almost having sex with a guy she JUST MET THE DAY BEFORE! Seriously? Who wrote that? That same mom turns into a zombie, but she had been infected for at least a day, whilst two other girls get bitten and turn in like five minutes. Come on!Some zombies are chasing two characters by running, but conveniently decide to walk to chase some other characters in order to let them get home safely and lock the doors. One guy steals a box of food supplies from a random woman, only to toss it away minutes after! This movie is a bad joke. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to like it and I actually thought it was going to be great for the sole reason that this isn't an American film. But it's horrible and the ending is just offensive to what's acceptably realistic in movies...
