Nonureva Really Surprised!
NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Caryl It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
skpn123 Should you be looking for something you can watch while needing a distraction from boring paperwork or mundane housework, that is light, fun, fast moving and so not needing to be taken seriously 'The Wedding Date' is perfect! It has the potential to rescue any viewer from cynicism and pessimism or just a bad mood. There is lovely chemistry between the leads and though the story is completely unbelievable the leads (both couples) are lovely together. This 'feel good' movie is a nice reminder that life does not need to be always serious, and while some people are simply not redeemable that is, they are not good boyfriends or partners, and can waste our time and our life, there are always other fish in the sea.
Davis P The Wedding Date (2005) is a fair and decent romantic comedy. I really did enjoy the casting, Debra Messing did a good job and Amy Adams did as well, and of course the very sexy Dermot was the perfect romantic interest. Dermot's acting was very real and impressive, and the chemistry between all the actors on screen was spot on too. The script is pretty decent and alright, not the greatest dialogue in the world, but it sufficed. The sex scene was well shot and was very sweet, gentle, and sensual, which is how a good sex scene should work. I liked the romance and to be honest, the film got better as it went on. Early on the movie was dragging some, and it needed to pick up the pace. The movie as I said, got better with that as it went along. And I didn't mind seeing Dermot strip down lol, what can I say, it was nice. And the cousin in the movie was hilarious, loved her character. 6/10
SnoopyStyle Kat Ellis (Debra Messing) is stressed out over the marriage between her younger half-sister Amy (Amy Adams) and Edward Fletcher-Wooten (Jack Davenport). She's afraid to run into her ex Jeffrey (Jeremy Sheffield), and she hires a male escort Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney) to pose as her boyfriend. It's a British comedy with a bunch of American actors. The transAtlantic jokes aren't translating that well. It has a few mildly humorous jokes, but the movie is overall a rather poor comedy. And it doesn't help that it gets so serious.Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney have limited chemistry. He's too cold, and a little dirty as a male gigolo. She's too stressed, and a little bit angry. Oddly, they're the only thing worth watching in this movie. The tone is so uneven that it really can't maintain any flow to the movie.
Desertman84 The Wedding Date is a romantic comedy film that stars Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney,Amy Adams,Jack Davenport,Peter Egan and Holland Taylor. It was directed by Clare Kilner and based on the book Asking for Trouble by Elizabeth Young.Kat Ellis is a single New Yorker who returns to her parents' house in London to be the maid of honor at her younger half sister's wedding. The best man is none other than her former fiancé, who unexpectedly dumped her two years ago. Anxious about confronting him and eager to impress him, she hires suave escort Nick Mercer to pose as her boyfriend.Kat intends to make her former flame, Jeffrey, jealous, but her plan backfires when Nick convinces everyone, including her, that they are madly in love. Kat then feels herself, too, falling for Nick as he slowly falls for her. Along the way, Kat discovers her half sister, Amy, slept with Jeffrey while they were still together. Jeffrey dumped Kat because he believed he was in love with Amy. Amy confesses her betrayal to her fiancé, Ed, just before the church ceremony. However, Ed decides that he loves Amy more than he is angry, and they end up getting married after all. Kat and Nick end up together. Jeffrey, the main reason for all the trouble, learns absolutely nothing. At the end he is seen, possibly in France, as Nick jokingly said to Ed, trying to get the attentions of a female neighbor. The main problem with the film is that it seems to be missing a sequence where we see Kat and Nick actually falling for each other - the script pretty much expects us to take it for granted just because they're the leads. That is why this movie does not work for everything just works as a plot requirement.
