Claudio Carvalho In Houston, the aspirant to photographer Amie (Annabeth Gish) receives a complete Salsa and Mambo dancing course from her close colleagues and friends as her wedding gift. Her wedding with the wealthy and arrogant Jason (Daniel Cosgrove) is close and she intends to dance Salsa in the feast. Amie meets the Porto Rican instructor Nicholas (Kamar de los Reyes), and she feels a great attraction for him. When Nicholas bet with his former mate Cristina (Tessie Santiago) that he would teach Amie to be a great dancer, they daily train together for long periods and they fall for each other. Amie breaks with Jason, but is not sure about with whom she really wants to stay. What a delightful movie this "The Way She Moves" is. The story is very predictable, follows the success of other romantic comedies having the dance as the theme, but I liked this one a lot. The pair Annabeth Gish and Kamar de los Reyes shows a great chemistry; the Latin music score and the choreography are excellent; the conclusion of the romance is very funny; and the sexy Tessie Santiago is delicious, really a collyrium for the eyes. I found this movie surprisingly cute and pleasant and I really intend to see it again in the next future. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "Ritmo da Sedução" ("Rhythm of the Seduction")
lalis99_2000 I think the movie is good and the music they used is great! it's just one of these movies you watch when you have nothing else to do, but anyway they entertain you. just like I said, for me the best thing was the music.I really like it, mostly because is latin music(salsa, merengue, etc) but in English. They dance really good and have great salsa moves! Oh, just a little question, maybe someone can help me! can someone please tell me what is the name of the song they dance at the end of the movie in the salsa festival? Thank you!!
sweetrupturedlight this one surprised me. i chose it at the video store, just because. i'd never heard about it, nor the actors, except for Daniel Cosgrove, thanks to life in Pine Valley (AMC) so, i had no bias.after the first watch, i thought it was ok, but the second time round i enoyed it much more. The leads were well cast, esp Kamar, who plays Nick. He is sexy, a good actor to boot, and he was made to move to music. i could have spent the entire movie just watching him dance. Annabeth Gish was good also, although i thought that she lacked a little in the rhythem department. i will say though, that after the wonderful, natural moves of Kamar and Tesse Santiago, Amy was more than passable.there were of course little things that irritated me. the fact that she chose to re-commit to her loser fiance, and then practically go through with the wedding! hello! also, her mothers attitude about Nick's heritage as well as her friends anti-nick advice, then the sudden turnabout from both parties in the end, including Tesse's character.despite that, this movie is a treat for anyone who loves the sultry music, the wonderful beats, the dancing and the eye candy in the form of Kamar. i loved it.10!
gladysjm A very romantic movie but also an excellent movie that taught one thing well. That one thing was that if you want to be good at anything, in this case, salsa dancing, it is very important to work at it and practice it until you have it perfected. This is a lesson that can be applied to anything in life including learning a musical instrument, acting on stage, etc. While the dancing in this movie was excellent the story-line was a more common boy meets girl story but with a twist at the end that was actually very comedic. The scene as Amy runs back down the aisle and out of church and the look on the faces of the wedding guests as she disappears on the back of a moving fire engine was priceless and one of my favorite. It almost makes you say "way to go, Amy"! :) Be sure to watch the movie if VH1 ever decides to play it again. The actors in this movie were believable. It was a VH1 Original Movie that aired over Labor Day weekend, 2001.
