BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment

ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
silverspur_dave In response to mentalcritic's statement: "No explanation is ever offered for why these now-adolescent characters have the urge to eat the living things around them, leave alone how they would have sufficient muscle to stand under their own power after having been comatose and convulsive for ten years."An explanation for how they would have sufficient muscle is offered in a deleted scene, actually an expanded version of the scene where David feeds his comatose son Eric and talks to his brother Tom. David explains how twice a day the children's bodies go into convulsions. Far from weakening them, he explains, this strengthens and builds up their muscles.Rarely does deleted material give me the feeling it really shouldn't have been deleted, but this is one example.
Uriah43 All across the world every child under the age of 9 is suddenly hit with a plague that sends them into a coma. They stay comatose for 10 years and then they all wake up at once. And they begin to kill all of the adults they see. Nobody knows the reason that only children under 9 are affected. Neither does anyone know why they have become like murderous zombies. All people know is that the only way to stop them from killing is to kill them first. Anyway, so much for the plot. As far as the movie itself was concerned, it had some good points and it had some bad points. First, I thought it was well directed, the acting was okay and it managed to maintain my interest from start to finish. On the other hand, there were quite a few questions left unanswered which really lowered the film's overall value. For example, it doesn't explain where the plague came from nor why the children suddenly woke up and started killing people. Likewise, the ending was equally puzzling. That said, regardless of whether explanations were deliberately omitted or not, it really caused the film to suffer. In short, this movie could have been much better if it made sense. But parts of it didn't and because of that I only give this film an average rating.
JoeB131 The plot is that all the world's children go comatose, and ten years later, they all wake up and start killing the adults. So the movie plays like a wet dream from the Human Extinction Project, but it's really just another lame zombie movie with all the tired zombie movie conventions.Except the zombies are teenagers (read 20 year olds because they never hire actual teenagers to play teenagers). You would have to believe that all these kids would develop normally while being in a coma. And that they would be physically capable of killing adults AND sustaining gunshot wounds after being in vegetative states for a decade.Still, I give the first half of the movie credit for being a slightly more effective than usual zombie movie, using all the zombie clichés ("she's not your daughter anymore!") and throwing in a few twists to boot.At least until the ending, when the hero figures out what they are up to and it turns into kind of an illogical mess where there's no payoff of letting the audience know what we just watched.
darth_paul-2 The one star out of ten that I do give goes to honor the wonderful Dee Wallace and even Van der Beeck and Milicevic produced quality performances. The worst thing about this film is the writing, the directing, the production, the plot, the hidden messages, Clive Barker's weakening ability to write horror, and all the rest! A veritable suckfest to be sure. I was so disgusted by the immense waste of time after watching this film that I felt compelled to go back online and write this review! There goes 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back.Again, the only worthwhile thing in this movie were Dee Wallace and the other main characters---absolutely nothing else!
