Synopsis

David Hyde Pierce, playing an alien (credited as infinity-cubed in the opening credits), narrates a courtship in a late-20th century American city as an extraterrestrial nature documentary. The relationship "footage" is played straight, while the voice-over (with its most often wildly inaccurate theories) and elaborate visual metaphors add comedy.

Alicia I love this movie so much
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
aeyrhed caught this movie late night on some movie channel or another years ago, didn't expect much from it but by the end my roommates and i were in tears. it was so goofy and just uber. in the years since, i've been unable to find anyone who carries it or has even seen it, but if you can find it GRAB IT. innovative, original, just remarkably different in a very light hearted fun playful way.i normally don't hold much high esteem for carmen electra's acting skills. i love David hyde pierce, his narration was great. casting was actually really good considering some of the people they chose for the film.its done documentary style, or perhaps more like a nature show. the tone of the flick if i remember correctly was something like those mating habits of wild animals shows but with humans instead of animals and the "alien's" ideas on the particular purposes of some of the things we do were really funny. hope you all find it as enjoyable as we did
eXperto WOW! it's a very nice movie! a must see, a lot of comedy but makes us see our lives from a different point of view! a point of view of an alien, he could better understand us than ourselves.A woman likes to see one person dying slowly. A man like to see a lot of persons dying quickly. That's the human movies preference from the point of view of the alien. I think the guy is right!A woman would like to see a movie for a small cute child dying with cancer, while a man would like to see a huge meteoroid hitting the planet earth :)
Hugh G. Rection (ElKabong-3) This is a whimsical look at the human race through the eyes of an alien studying human beings and their mating rituals, much as a scientist might study the same behavior in chimps or zebras. The film is especially enjoyable if you're an aficionado of those nature pieces on the Discovery channel. The observer focuses on a young couple from their meeting at a bar, through their dating and sexual experimentation, to their marrying and having a child together. Carmen Electra looks stunning as the female of the pair, the male is played by some nameless swinging dick I don't remember. there is not any explicit sex or even nudity in the film, surprising after some of the comments I've read, but you can see far more skin AND sex on an episode of NYPD Blue. I'm no expert, but I really liked this film and so did my wife, a most unusual occurrence. I recommend it to anyone with a rather dry sense of humor and a taste for the subtle. (You won't see anybody smashed in the face with a pie) If I had to refer people to one underrated film of the last 20 or so years, this would be it. Take a chance and see it if you have a high I.Q. and are weary of car crashes and every film consisting of African- American actors calling each other the "N" word. Not mentioning any names here.
rontnd I found this film fascinating and very well done. The interest does not flag from beginning to end and the concept is so very true. In my 80 years I have seen this happen so often both with young people and old. I wish I were young again.
