One of the more boring movies I've started to watch and wanting to get into. Except the initial action scenes, which are OK but pretty routine, the acting is sub-par. The story is presented in a very boring fashion that doesn't entice you into wanting to learn more.Lines are spoken without emotion when that would be needed and multiple actors deliver without engagement as if it was a school play. Paul Walker (as Ben Garvey) is a tiny bit better than the characters on the side, but by the time the story has developed a bit you are already bored enough to ignore whatever he tried to put in. I think I'll avoid director John Glenn in the future.

The first twenty minutes of this movie were as bad as TV short movies of the 80s: minimal script, not very good acting and a buggy plot.I was about to quit so I started to press forward and I began wondering what was going on. I started back to the 20th minute and I enjoyed this nice thriller, quite unpredictable I must say.Anyway some questions arise. How did they know he was falling asleep while smoking? Is it possible that someone is sentenced to death penalty if he has not killed anyone, not even stolen anything?The plot would have worked fine even if Ben had killed someone during the robbery.7/10

Basically it's all about chances, choices and consequences. More specifically how rare second chances in life are. Ben is a decent family man who still manages to get involved with crime. That said, he remains a sympathetic protagonist. The film asks some pretty deep questions and the slow pace provides an opportunity to reflect on them. The story is principally set in an institution amidst leafy countryside. A place Ben is not allowed to leave. Also given the surrealism in places there are echos of The Prisoner here. Ultimately, there are echos of another production as well. The Lazarus Project is unabashedly philosophical, and perhaps a spiritual, piece minus the sort of ham-fisted didacticism found in The Box (2009).

The premise was ridiculous- however some have asked why would they spend the money to help a few criminals- one reviewer who didn't get it called others morons for thinking the movie was slow. They are just testing on a small group of death row types to hopefully expand to all crazy people. Anyhow, typical pretentious garbage. The plot makes no sense, is totally unbelievable and has too many holes. However, I saw it on a rainy day and it is good enough for that kind of viewing situation. At some point I hung on long enough to see how it ended. Watch it just don't expect too much.
