I once read that if you give a typewriter infinite time to a monkey, such monkey will eventually type Hamlet, for instance.In the case of "Dark Tape", somebody gave a bunch untalented people some filming equipment and not enough time... The result is "Dark Tapes".

I am a definite fan of the found footage genre, and I usually have a fairly high threshold for getting grossed out, but this is just plain sick schlock. I couldn't even finish watching the trailer, so that should give you an idea of what my opinion of the entire movie was like. There's no artistry or imagination in anything anymore, it's just become all about how many buttons can we push and how much fake blood can we splatter over the screen. I also took an immediate dislike to ALL of the characters just from what I saw. Look at the trailer and see for yourself, but I'm not going to waste any more time with this thing.

I was anticipating the release of this movie from the beginning of 2017. When it came out, I had high hopes for it. I wasn't disappointed. The Dark Tapes has a clever way of connecting each of the four stories together and each one shines a unique light on a specific genre within the horror universe. If you liked southbound and V/H/S, you will love The Dark Tapes.

Before, I used to read reviews here before watching a movie, but I decided not to do that because they may influence my opinion.Now, my opinion on this film is rather in line with its rating here. I give it a four. I must say that I did not really understand what is going on. I guess the 1st tape of 2007 provoked something which is thought to be over with the Amanda girl (in 2015) but actually was not over?! The tape #3 was the most puzzling to be - the family with a daughter. What was that? I can not even say what was a tape/real and what was a trap.I am surprised this film won 15 awards. I mean, I am not sure what they are (besides their names) but... I guess I did not get the film if I would not give it any award.This is not entirely bad/boring, but better watch something else.
