Ehirerapp Waste of time
Beanbioca As Good As It Gets
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
rockchester First of all, yes, it's a pretty awful movie. I'm one of those people who don't try to figure things out. Rather, I like to be surprised so I just sit back and enjoy the surprises as they come. So, the only real surprise about who the killer was turned out to be that even I could figure it out. It didn't come to me in the beginning. The thing is, the only thing that would have really made the movie shine was to keep us in suspense about who the Cusp was. But, no. The thing about the original movie that kept us in suspense was Jennifer Lopez's character figuring out where the bad guy's killing jar, so to speak, was located. This movie tried to emulate that formula but it just fails to keep the suspense. I mean, who cares now that we know who the bad guy is? Tessie is a very beautiful woman but she seemed to be positioned frequently as a runway model. 'See my great figure?' And the movie got to be such a yawner that when Maya and Harris were together I kept going 'no, no, don't do a gratuitous love scene! NO!' Fortunately, we were spared that until the very end.The helicopter figured prominently in the movie. It probably consumed a big part of the budget. But it was just weird with Harris perched on the outside of it as it was over the chemical plant, then over a body of water then suddenly it's over a stadium which it eventually lands in. The killer was an EMT tech, then a police officer so when did he get the ability to fly a helicopter? Kind of a plot hole there. Then, during the credits, in kind of a bizarre homage to The Shining, we see beautiful scenery with the helicopter's shadow plainly visible. Some of the special effects were kind of neat, though. I liked how they showed Maya when she used her mystical power that she got from being killed six times. Maya just slinking down a corridor with screens representing memories and picking one up seemingly randomly was pretty cool.Overall, I'd definitely recommend that you pass on this movie. Even if you liked the first one, it bares almost no resemblance to it. And, of course, the original had a good script, a fairly good cast and a bigger budget. This one just didn't have the money to do a proper job of it but even if they had more money, I doubt that it would have made that much of a difference. It's sort of watchable which made me sit through until the end but overall, it's rather boring in so many places that maybe I was just watching the entire thing hoping to see Tessie take off some clothing. Even that was disappointing.
FlashCallahan FBI Agent Maya has developed the ability of psychically connect with other people after being murdered six times and brought back to live by the sadistic serial-killer Cusp. Now she is tracking down the infamous criminal through his mind using a device to protect herself but after an unsuccessful manhunt, she quits the FBI. One year later, when the niece of Sheriff Harris is abducted by Cusp, Maya's former chief Kassel summons her back to the investigation. Maya teams up with Harris trying to save his niece Penelope, but her time is short and she must risk her own safety to help the young woman......Yet another quick Dollar made by movie studios who think it's a good idea to cash on a semi successful movie released a few years prior.like 8mm 2, and the net 2.0, this has virtually nothing to do with the original, apart from the first five minutes, and the rest of the movie, is bland, uninvolved and badly acted/edited.Seeing that this is directed by someone who produced and directed several episodes of '24' this is one major feat, making something virtually unwatchable.and the inclusion of frank Whaly, just gives the game away the instant he appears on the screen.the effects are turgid and laughable, the script and story is dire, and it becomes a shambles come the end.Do yourself a favour, read the other reviews and believe them, it truly is this bad.the unfortunate thing is, we are going to be 'treated to other movies like this for years to come, and we will keep watching them, just for a miracle to come along.
insomniac_rod "The Cell 2" had a lot of potential. It's a follow-up to a modern cult classic. The plot sounds very interesting. I mean, it deals with a special FBI unit that is after a dangerous serial killer. This special unit applies supernatural elements to discover what the killer is thinking and what's going to be his next move.Well, it soon gets dull and predictable. You will know who the real villain is without a single problem. The gore is not so bad and the torture instruments are just okay. It was very inspired by the "Saw" movies but without the necessary punch.Everything solves in the classic cat and mouse chase and then the result is a mediocre direct to video effort. I would only recommend it for those of b-movie hunger that enjoy cops with supernatural strategies. Otherwise, skip it! Tess Santiago has a golden ass. That should be a positive thing about this movie.
davideo-2 STAR RATING: ***** Saturday Night **** Friday Night *** Friday Morning ** Sunday Night * Monday Morning Those cretins at LoveFilm, sure as day and night, sent me a film from the low priority section before I got one in one of the higher sections. And so I saw this made for DVD sequel to the 2000 horror film The Cell, which had pretensions of being a Silence of the Lambs style delve into the psyche of a serial killer but was in fact just an excuse for a former MTV music video director to show off his warped visual costumes and special effects. Hardly the springboard for a film that was going to get a sequel in theatres and surely enough, this has arrived like many other sequels nowadays arriving straight to DVD. And so we have a sexy (but scrawnily thin) young woman running around snow ridden America with a detective whose niece has been kidnapped, using her 'mind power' to hunt down the kidnapper, who's also a serial killer. Everyone involved just goes through the motions with some wearisome sets and dull dialogue until, after barely 70 minutes, the whole shebang comes to an end. Distracting enough if you've got nothing better to watch, but pretty pointless otherwise. **
