Synopsis

Tongue-in-cheek look at 20-something singles clubbing and partying in L.A. Voice-over narration, charts and graphs, and visits to a research laboratory punctuate the story of a single night when groups of friends go out, drink alcohol, take drugs, dance and talk, and look for someone to go home with.

Ehirerapp Waste of time
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
Carl Johnson Most people have remained unsure about the nature of this film, about whether it is intended to be serious or parodical, intended as a satire of partying, or advice of how to do so. I believe that is because it isn't firmly either of these things. Just as in the partying it illustrates, you should never try to take it seriously, or figure out what it is that lays at the core; this movie doesn't have a firm plot line, or a truly serious face when it comes to doling out advice. However, it is very entertaining. The movie has some ridiculous situations, but I'm sure most people can say that more ridiculous things have happened. It takes a very casual attitude towards drugs, but at the same time makes it clear that drugs can be, and often are abused. This movie offers a fairly honest look at what happens in the "partying scene" in all its hijinks and inglory. In the end, you will most likely either come away with a strong reaction to this movie, be it positive or negative. It is obviously intended for younger audiences, and on a personal note, I recommend being as chemically influenced as the people in the film when you watch it. (In some way, you feel more "in" the movie, more in touch with the film's "spirit" as it were)
k_mas So far I haven't seen a movie like this. A movie that is funny and maintaining originality at the same time. Have you seen a movie like this? I don't think so.I watched this before I turned the ripe old age to legally drink and party, and let's just say that without this movie, I would definitely be the girl crying on the steps and I'm a guy.Despite the full frontal nudity of illicit drugs, it deserves a kudos because of its gonad kicking ability to society by showing the true fact that these things happen in life. The movie title itself is basically what the movie is all about, 'getting down'. It isn't meant to offend people, it isn't meant to encourage people. Its soul purpose (in my opinion) is to say "Don't turn the blind eye because this s*** goes down at parties".I wouldn't go to far to say that this is the way of life. I'm just trying to say that this movie does capture that wild side and puts it on the big screen and shows you angels what it's like on the other side.
emdoub Remarkably entertaining and refreshing little comedy here. The cast of unknowns do a spot-on job of portraying their roles, the writer and director had something ... well, not new, but not overdone, and interesting to say, and, as other reviewers have said - this is true. I have known these people, and even been a few of them. There were very few laugh-out-loud moments - but there were an awful lot of delighted grin times here.Your experience may be very much a matter of taste - I also thought _Romance and Cigarettes_ and _Go!_ were fun, couldn't make it through more than 30 minutes of _Click_, and have no interest in trying _Dumb and Dumber_, _Jackass_, or _Napoleon Dynamite_. If you need overblown to enjoy comedy, skip this one. If subtle, wry wit works for you - enjoy it.
kate douglas (kbfisher) Overall, fantastic! A warning: if you don't live in LA - you might not get it. Those that have given descriptions that say this is a fictional portrayal of stereotypic characters haven't partied in LA and haven't experienced how true and hilarious this movie really is.B&G's guide is a portrayal of hipster party life in Los Angeles. It's story is told like a "how to" manual for the various scenarios that scenesters find themselves in. Its well shot, and I thought that the director, Paul Sapiano, did an excellent job. I love that one of the main characters brought an old mobile to one of the parties in silver lake, and made it a fashion statement. Its too bad that this movie was not released in more theaters. As far as I know, there was only one showing thus far in LA at the Chinese Mann theater in Hollywood. I hope to see it released, and more accessible in the future.
