Misteraser Critics,are you kidding us
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
JaynaB The above is a good enough excuse for me to go back over a scene. However, this isn't the best date movie. It will raise too many questions in your companion's mind and you'll have to guard your phone from snooping forever afterward. That said, it's not as painfully bad as some reviews would have you believe. The moral of the story is simple. When you find something real, you have to make a hard choice: to back out of all the other fun, fleeting entanglements, no matter how messy it might get - or let the real one walk.Yes, the male lead is wooden. Most of the characters aren't nuanced. The female lead carries the emotions for the whole cast. She doesn't show a lot of range, but it's there. The most believable to me are the Three Musketeers - I may have met each of them although not under similar circumstances. But the very awkwardness of the acting and the filming make this little Canadian film a more real portrayal of the confusions and mistaken assumptions and unavoidable wounds of the current e-fueled, spoiled-for-choice world out there. Maybe the real problem with this movie is that it was released five years ago, before quite so many people had grown into and through this inescapable slice of 21st-century life.
OhHeckNo My last review was deleted - because another user reported it as abuse. Really?! A negative review is abuse? Please don't try to sensor the negative comments about the movie. I'm entitled to my opinion. Just as the people who decided this movie was worth making are entitled to make it. I'm resubmitting some of my review. (I've left out some parts that were negative about the writer - he wrote me a personal email about my review.) I can only assume my comments hurt someone's feelings and so they had my review deleted. Let's hope I'm allowed to keep it here. What kind of website is this if I can't write a negative review without someone having it removed from the site? Be authentic. It is what it is and I have every right to hate this film. Someone made this film, I made the mistake of watching it and so have have ever right to review it and speak my opinion. Here goes:I'm a positive person who believes that if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all but this movie was so horrible that I had to express it to let these feelings leave my being. I registered for this site just to leave this review. On top of trying to save you from throwing away an hour and a half of your life, I frankly want to vent that such a poorly written movie was even produced. I am not a writer so I don't even have the words or skills to convey just how awful the script was. But I'm going to try! The story is immature and uninteresting. I kept thinking to myself it is as if this was written by a 12 year old boy! It was cheesy and lacking in knowledge of people, relationships and life. It had no depth, humour, compassion, heart or soul. The writing was beyond terrible. It was as if you were watching a spoof of a bad movie. The character of best friend of the lead in the film was so immature and annoying to watch that I had a hard time believing that anyone would write this character in a movie. I thought, it's as if this annoying, immature and unintelligent character wrote this movie! Then when I see this site I notice that the actor playing that character did write the movie! I'm beyond words. There are meaningful and excellent stories to be told but this is not one of them. Oh, and if you are reading this thinking now you really have to see it to see how bad it is - no you don't! Please. It's painful. Spare yourself. Oh gosh, how was that for judgement. Oh well! That's my review.
tor-valamo I don't often write reviews, but while watching this movie I felt like I had to warn others not to waste money on it.None of the characters have personalities. Even the main character is completely shallow and the only funny thing about him is his arrogance towards anything (which may just be bad acting).Carly Pope is great. She's the most dynamic character in the film, very much thanks to her acting, less thanks to the script.Oh and another thing that was kinda funny were the guys she was dating. Probably the most original characters in the film, but too little screen time and as a result very shallow. I'd watch a film with just those three.I think this movie is a great study (or warning) for any emerging script writers and possibly directors in what you get if your characters don't have any character. If the main goal is the storyline rather than making the audience bond, then why not write a book instead.
miragusa It was a pleasure to come upon a new movie which was not jam packed with predictable characters, and stars to sell seats. I thoroughly enjoyed the modern social media undertones throughout the movie, which made it a very hip and relevant romantic comedy for 2011. Kudos to the writer: Liam Card, the humor was edgy and satirical, and the acting was not so shabby. Jason Lewis did a fine job as distressed heart throb/gigolo- really hard to pity a guy who is sleeping with four beautiful women, yet he somehow pulled it off. More importantly, and surprisingly I really thought Carly Pope and Liam Card shined as undiscovered acting gems in the film. I hope to see more of them in the future! Marc Rigaux and the entire production ensemble did a great job, and I will be sure to spread the word (through social media of course). Great date movie!
