Synopsis

Wayne Morris' B-western series was the last of its kind to be produced in Hollywood. Texas Bad Man casts Morris as a sheriff who happens to be the son of inveterate thief Frank Ferguson. Knowing full well that Ferguson's gang intends to steal a shipment of gold, Morris must stay up nights trying to second-guess his crafty dad. While there's no shortage of action, the resolution to the story relies more on brawn than brain. Western "regulars" Sheb Wooley, Myron Healey and Denver Pyle do their usual in secondary roles, as does Elaine Riley as the requisite (but hardly crucial) heroine.

Reviews

Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Freeman This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
revdrcac Wayne Morris starred in a number of fine westerns over the years and is best remembered today for a fantastic performance in Kirk Douglas' Paths of Glory. This film finds the under-rated actor out west once again in a father vs. son western showdown. The fine cast includes the great Myron Healey, whose face is instantly recognizable to most western TV and movie fans. The plot is interesting, with the family dynamics showing that dysfunctional families existed in the 19th century-- just as today ! Wayne Morris does a very good job here..... It is unfortunate that he never landed the one big role that would have best showcased his acting chops. This one is good, slightly above your average sagebrush saga. Enjoy !!
