Reviews

Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
mtwhite-32612 At the outset of this movie, I loved the premise, a suspenseful thriller with 3 girls kidnapped and having to manage a way to escape a man with over 20 varying personalities. It was an exceedingly interesting concept and as the plot and the character of Kevin developed, it only became more compelling. James McAvoy did an excellent job with one of the more difficult roles imaginable in the film industry. Where this movie faltered, and in a major way, was the ending, in which Kevin becomes "The Beast," a new manifestation of his personality disorder that is essentially a supervillain that his brain has willed into existence. The movie departed from the suspenseful, intense story of a fairly believable character with a split personality disorder into this fantastical horror movie that was bordering on ridiculous. I think that the movie still had enough entertainment value and a compelling enough story to manage a 5/10 but I was entirely disappointed by the decision to wrap this story up with the unleashing of The Beast.

kristinapjordanova Wow, that's interesting rating! In my opinion the movie has really bad plot and acting!
tomas-842-817258 Shyamalan has made so many so-so movies of late, so many bad movies, many were writing him off as a one-hit wonder (The Sixth Sense). Of course, his follow-ups to that, through Signs, are amazing, even if film society doesn't see it that way. I never lost faith in him. But, I've never been blind to how bad The Happening, The Last Airbender, and After Earth are. The Visit was such a shock - it was GOOD. Really GOOD. Most people gave it low marks because of the stereotype they had of Night. And then Split. Wow. I stood up in the theater and clapped. "Welcome back, Night!" Could this film truly be as good as The Sixth Sense? No. It's better.
