masonfisk Another in, at this point, long line of lunk-headed plots from the mind of Nicholas Sparks becomes another forgettable film based on his assembly line of novels. Hero (ine) w/a troubled past, check. Impossibly attractive couple meet cute somewhere down south, check. Soundtrack that spells everything out underlying every feeling & emotion on screen, check. Safe Haven reminds me of a Southpark episode where they derided Family Guy's plot ideas as being randomly picked by manatees. One wonders if Mr. Sparks has an investment in manatees.

srdjan_veljkovic The little girl, Lexie, daughter of the main character's love interest, is very cute. Makes you wish you had a daughter like her. But, that's the only really good aspect of this movie. Well, unless you're a huge HIMYM fan, as there's an extended cameo of Robin Scherbatsky - feeling blue.Some say that the book is much better, but, the story as seen in the movie is very lacking. Sure, the main character is a pretty little blonde and her love interest is a tall man whom some women probably find handsome (who obviously spends a suspicious amount of time in the gym for a single father of two). But, that doesn't mean that they are just "destined" to fall in love. We don't really see them falling in love, we're more-or-less told "so, they're in love now". It's even worse for the little boy (Lexie's brother) with a big chip on his shoulder, which simply goes away at one moment (the chip, not the boy), without any reason what-so-ever.Also, the whole angle w/Cobie Smulders doesn't work. She's just a neighbor to whom the blonde speaks a little from time to time. If the blonde were so important to her, they would spend more time, share secrets, support each other.So, while the idea is somewhat interesting and the little girl is cute, most of the rest is OK at best, and the story is not good at all. It might appeal to the very romantic among us, as "love conquers all" at the end. But, except for Lexie, there's pretty much nothing in there for the even only slightly romantic, let alone the rest.

Ian (Flash Review)This movie pulled some pleasant surprises as well as picturesque location scenes. It starts out more or less like a typical RomDram yet nicely twists into a thriller with a couple nice curve balls to it. A woman flees to a tiny fishing town to escape her past. As she blends in she of course meets a handsome bloke. As things progress on that front, her past starts to catch up with her. Will her past break up or strengthen the relationship or worse yet, put people in jeopardy? Will she ever be able to make a clean break? Even though this is partially a thriller, the romantic side is still effective at tugging at those darn heart strings. But this is a solid watch for those looking within the romantic category. Movie most effective if you are a parent and are watching this with your significant other. Haha

bikelvrgirl This is a great movie. The actors, including those that played the kids, are fabulous. The portrayals of abuse are realistic and really well played, and they really drew me in. It does have a bit of a kooky ending, which I didn't appreciate the first time I saw it, but it didn't bother me after that. (I have now seen this several times.) Definitely a keeper, and a very sweet film.
