Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
radrockstar When I started watching this I did not expect much. However, it became apparent that this movie was more than just a mindless robot movie. The overall story line for it was good and went about building the father son relationship very well. It did not feel force and both Charlie and Max had moments when they hated each other after they got to know each other. The way Max runs up to Charlie at the end while calling him dad was amazing as after all they been through they found a way to be in each other's lives.Moving on to the "no name" underdog who stood a chance against the undefeated king in the Robot fight world was amazing. It was also nice to see that they started at the bottom with Atom and then they slowly make their way into the "big ring" where they take the world by storm. This movie was all about how with the right tools like passion, hard work, and willing to be knock down, no matter how you look or how big you are you can do something that nobody gave you a chance to do. The actors in this movie all gave solid performances and the CGI stood up by 2011 standards and seeing it in 2018 I still think it stands up. Even with the normal underdog formula this movie is able to stand out with the way it goes about delivering this story in a way where you cheer for the starts not only because they are the underdogs but because they have the passion that many pro sports need. Well worth a watch
djfrost-46786 Great movie!!! Everytime I research it I'm amazed. Gets me pumped at the end everytime. Every movie with someone from the TV show Lost at least gets 1 star from me too!!
ouroborosvsdeath-85680 Real Steel is such a bad movie that it actually becomes easy to review it by simply enumerating all the stupidity in it.The movie literally uses every cliché in the book: "main character is owing a lot of money because of irresponsible bets", "main character has a kid he never cared about", "main character loses even more money on-screen to show the audience who's too dumb to understand the first time", "kid is a tech-genius", "kid helps his father start winning money" you name it.If that wasn't enough the movie then decides to completely rip-off the plot of Rocky by having the underdog robot fighter win a chance at facing the world champion and then have the champion barely win that fight by points and not KO, so that the protagonist can be "the people's champion"And I haven't even gotten to the inexcusable plot holes like the fact that the kid is the first person in the history of robot fighting (a common sport in this movie's future) to find out that training robots are better than the normal fighting robots because they can take more damage and keep fighting. DID NO ONE SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT THAT BEFORE?!?! EVEN I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT WHILE WATCHING THE ******* MOVIE
Dominic LeRose In the near future, robot boxing is a top sport. A struggling promoter feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot with the helps of his son. Yes, Hugh Jackman is a struggling father who begins his past career of boxing a broken robot that symbolizes himself. Despite the extreme stupidity described, the film is very entertaining and, surprising, not as sappy as it sounds. Hugh Jackman knows the kind of film he stars in, not trying too hard to be something he's not in this film. He delivers a fun performance that sets-off his annoying son. Being a Hollywood blockbuster, "Real Steel" gives an entertaining show that touches on emotional issues that children and certain film-goers can appreciate. I wouldn't' rush back for more, but for what it's worth, "Real Steel" is a knock-out (pun intended).
