Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Dr_Sagan I watched this movie back when it came out. Maybe I saw it one more time since then, but basically I'm writing this with the impression that left me back then. Well, to remember a movie like a....quarter of the century after, it says something about the impression that left you with. And it is a good one.Basically this is a romantic comedy. Not for big laughs, but a movie you enjoy seeing nevertheless. It's about a wall street shark (De Vito) who during a hostile take over of a traditional company (Gregory Peck is great as the owner) starts an unlikely romance with a young feisty lawyer (Penelope Ann Miller who is more attractive then ever). This is a great movie not only to watch but to ...hear too. The dialogs are superb. There are some speeches addressed to an audience that are really interesting too. Old vs. New. Traditional values, family, trust vs. profits and evolution. Even loving and caring vs. having a good time. The cast is stellar. Their performances stunning. The script great. I somehow even remember the music! Overall. A movie that is serious about its themes and really really enjoyable to watch. Highly recommended.
Anthm Wright The three main characters are very strong and very different. DeVito plays the ultimate miserly corporate businessman out to consume weak businesses and sell them off in pieces. He meets a beautiful lawyer, Penelope Ann Miller, who is sharp and does not allow herself to be manipulated by him--although he manipulates her anyway. Then, we learn that the company DeVito is out to take over next is the attorney's step father's played by Gregory Peck. The movie is suspenseful in a tongue and cheek sort of way. It pits two very different types of businessmen against one another--but there is a woman between them--a lawyer. The portrayals of the lead characters are very memorable and the viewer comes away with respect for all three though they are antagonists of one another. The bad guys and the good guys are the same characters and the viewer can pick sides. I, of course, pick the lawyer's.Great ending.
gcd70 Ruthless business man Lawrence 'Larry the Liquidater' Garfield determines to 'destroy' a small town Wire and Cable service in this Norman Jewison comedy. Danny De Vito is 'Larry' and Penelope Ann Miller is both his enemy and his heart's desire, a lawyer representing 'New England Wire and Cable'.De Vito is entertaining and always more enjoyable when he is only in front of the camera, while Miller is a delight to watch. "Other People's Money" is funny throughout but falls short of Jewison's "Moonstruck". The unresolved ending is a disappointment.Gregory Peck appears in a supporting role.Friday, November 15, 1991 - Knox District Centre
Esteban Merlo I consider this picture very educative. Comercially talking the picture show me how business market goes in these days. The way Mr.De Vito roles the play of Mr.Laurence Gardfield is amazing! Not only Gardfield's position on the plot but also the rest of the crew were OK. to me. The way MrJorgy tried to maintain the company working, and how Gardfield showed to the rest of the investors how bad would be for them to keep on the company. The tittle is a good resume of the main plot of the movie. MrGardfield is all the time around other people's money even thought when he makes the company value increase. He makes that no because he is interesting in making the company works. He's real interest is to sell the company to make the investors making money.
