CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Matylda Swan It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
quridley OK, so the zombies look ridiculous and the film is not scary in the least. But what you have is a very well-directed action-thriller with plenty of blood, beautiful women and locations and a fast plot.Zombies are on the loose in Italy and a couple do their best to survive and stop the epidemic. I was reminded of Brad Pitt's World War Z a bit. Its a good movie even if its not a real zombie movie.Nowhere near as interesting as the films of Lucio Fulci but a definite watch for fans of low budget Italian action.
Agent-47-2016 The plot was confusing. The acting was atrocious. The English dubbing was monotone the throughout the entire film. There was no emotion portrayed by any of the characters at all. The "zombies" are NOT zombies! They run, feel pain, use weapons, open doors, light fires, etc. I was playing around with my phone through most of the movie. It was that boring. The special effects are a joke! The camera shots are ridiculous too! In one scene, the main character shoots whatever its supposed to be. The next shot shows the back of the head flying off. The final shot shows said creature on the ground dead. You don't even hear a thud when the body falls to the ground.
jadavix "Nightmare City" is a movie that hasn't held up over the years as well as I'd hoped, but it's still leagues ahead of 99% of other Italian horror movies. It's not technically a zombie movie. While it does feature hordes of bad guys, who do look like zombies, outnumbering the good guys, they don't behave like zombies. For one, they use weapons. They also motion to each other, suggesting a coordination separate from the average crowd of flesh eaters. Speaking of coordination, they move a lot faster. They also do not each flesh, but rather, drink blood, generally from the chests of women they have just exposed with knives. The "nightmare" begins when an airplane touches down on a runway after a radiation leak is reported on the news. The plane door opens and out spills a horde of hideously mutated, violent freaks. They soon invade an aerobics studio where breasts are hacked off and eaten. The military in this movie is pathetic. The only time they display any acumen for combat is when, in one memorable scene, one soldier is gunned down by his teammate for going crazy and thinking they're mutants, too.The only character with any nouse is, improbably, a scientist, the hero of our story, who also happens to be ugly, balding and bearded. This is the kind of movie where scores of soldiers are killed, and then the hero gets away simply by unbelievable luck; eg. when he throws a TV at the group of mutants and it explodes as if there was a molotov cocktail inside. He later makes an actual molotov cocktail, throws it at a car, which also explodes, roasting several mutants. He carts a lady around - his wife - and it gets a bit tiresome seeing her do absolutely nothing of value while the old man saves the day.Aside from this the only real problem for the movie is that it falls apart toward the end and I lost interest. The characters are one dimensional, and spending so much time with them becomes a chore. There are still highlights at the end, though, and "Nightmare City" is certainly entertaining enough to be worth checking out.
Andy Clark Considering many of the films out of that era, this is one of the better genre rip-offs. Can't say the story is all that gripping, as the characters are pretty much stock zombie movie fodder.Acting is middling to poor. Camera work is decent, makeup and effects are a joke at times. It was fun to watch, but it really is just pretty much a bunch of hide and seek set pieces. That being said, I didn't dislike this movie. It was gripping and well worth a viewing every so often. It hasn't aged as well as some other movies in the genre, however.Definitely a movie for genre completionists and hardcore zombie flick fans.
